97 Blazer starts hard and quits while driving

I own a 97 Chevy Blazer 4WD, when turning the key to the "ON" position the dashboard indicator lights do not turn on immediatly (average 10 second delay) or a few instances at all. Obviously I cannot start the vehicle when this problem occurs but when the lights due come on you can hear the fuel pump kick in and the dash lights up; the car starts right up.
Also it has died while driving, sometimes shuts down completely on others just a second or two then runs fine. Other then that the car runs perfect. Thank you in advance for your help.

Replace the Ignition Switch, the electric part, not the lock cylinder.

How do I put my Chevy trail blazer 2005 LS in 4 wheel drive

look on the dash for a 4wd button or switch. may be located between the steering wheel and the radio. when you turn the knob to select 4hi, 4lo, 2hi, or auto, the indicator light above the corresponding selection will flash until the shift has completed. if the light stays flashing there is a fault in the 4wd system

All acc power stays on and starter wont stop turning over when battery is connected in my 1997 chevy blazer

I would take a look at the wires down at the starter. He may have the large positive wire shorting to the smaller, trigger, wire. This could potentially cause a back-feed through the whole system.

97 chevy blazer

There are no free full diagrams on the net, you need to charge and test the battery, clean the battery cables and run a voltage drop test as well, replace them if the are badly corroded. Kragen will test the battery for free.
