Everything I have read says... it must be PRE-PROGRAMMED
TO WORK correctly... (not-plug & play).

You need to post your original part number
Your TCM or TCU or whatever it is called
is definitely shared with OTHER Mercedes models

I have found them on AUDI...

Merc forums might be the place...

Most the meaningful dialog came from a single FORUM
"1994c220" (Go Hawkeyes...
a GRADUATE STUDENT, married & from 12 years ago)

Trans Control Module TCM

Car FORUMS & clubs get a lot off the point...
But this guy stays on course... but it is time for
heading into the wine country...

Later for whines
(I'm intellectually challenged on MERCs...
but I love the research (ROCKAUTO was no help on this one)...

Sorry about the SPAM answer f/Todd: that's all he does...!!

SOURCE: car wont start. turns over but wont stay running

your cars antitheft system is trying to prevent the car from being stolen so it is shutting it offf after it starts. go back over step by step you installation instructions make sure the ring around the ignition that comes with the remote starter is taped into the exact loacation it needs to be, or the cars own anti theft system will not notice it and will try to shut car off. its an anti theft feature. if this doesn't wotk you will not be able to use this remote starter. i ran into the same problem finally got it to work poperly.

Down shifting

check Transmission fluid is very important to an automatic transmission. All of the magic happens in the fluid. Most cars come with red transmission fluid, good to know if you are looking for a leak.

Got a code po705, replaced the conductor plate and plug with new ones.

This code is for a Transmission range sensor. Which can cause a vehicle to shift properly or go into gear correctly. Here are the problems that could cause that to malfunction.
  • Defective Transmission Range Sensor (PRNDL input)
  • Defective Transmission Range Sensor (PRNDL input) wiring or connector
  • Defective Valve Body
  • Defective manual shift valve linkage
  • Dirty transmission fluid that restricts the hydraulic passages

How to fix the automatic transaxle malfunction

Possible causes of OBD code P0780
- Low transmission fluid level - Dirty transmission fluid - Faulty shifting solenoid valve - Shifting solenoid valve harness or connectors - Shifting solenoid valve circuit is open or shorted The Error code is generally activated on detection of the following conditions: The P0780 codes is detected when no rotation change occurs between input (turbine revolution sensor) and output (revolution sensor) and shifting time is long or when shifting ends immediately or when engine revs up unusually during shifting. So check out these points and see if any are all help keep me posted

92 honda lx automatic is surging, not shifting right

Can be a few things. 1) Check the shift solenoids on top of the transmission (front). Remove them and clean out the screens. This would mean your transmission fluid is over due for changing. 2) Maybe it's the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), locate and change that. It's on top of the transmission back under the thermostat area. 3) It could be your Transmission Control Unit (TCU). It's under the floor carpet on your passenger side near the firewall. There is a metal plater covering your ECU and your TCU. The TCU is the smaller box. Remove it, open it and look for burnt items. If you're handy you can replace those items. If you are replacing the unit, make sure it is from a known good one and it matches your car exactly, ie: EX, LX, DX, SE, sport shift button present?, etc... on the circuit board.

Below is a picture of the TCU opened up, here are the transmission codes that your car can display if you are inclined to jump the OBD wire plug to get the reading.

TCU Codes:

CODE LIST:

1-Lock-up solenoid 'A' circuit open or shorted.
2-Lock-up solenoid 'B' circuit open or shorted.
3-Throttle Position Sensor circuit open or shorted.
4-Vehicle Speed Sensor open or shorted - No signal from speedometer.
5-Shift Lever Position Switch circuit shorted.
6-Shift Lever Position Switch circuit open.
7-Shift Solenoid 'A' circuit open or shorted.
8-Shift Solenoid 'B' circuit open or shorted.
9-Counter shaft or transmission speed pulse generator open or shorted.
10-Coolant Temperature Sensor open or shorted.
11-Engine RPM (Ignition coil signal) open or shorted.
12-(No code 12 used)
13-Main shaft speed pulse generator open or shorted.
14-Linear (line pressure control) solenoid open or shorted.
15-Kick down switch circuit shorted.
