There is no forward, reverse, or park. When the engine is running and I put it in gear then park I hear a lot of clicking that winds down and stops. With the engine off and transmission in park, I jacked up the car and turned a tire and the other tire does not mover accordingly. I can see both trans axles are fine going into the transmission (CV joints are good). The shifter moves as expected.

take a pry bar to the side of the tranny and pry the cv out, there is a clip on the shaft of the axle on the inside of the tranny

I forgot to add the time of failure. When I took off from a stop light I heard a loud pop and the engine running freely under no load. Also, this is an automatic transmission. Thank you for any responses.
I know this is late, but what happened was that there is a common problem with this transmission where there is some pin that wears out and breaks, that leaves the transmission disconnected from the engine in a way that you can no longer move forward or reverse.
