The display on my stock radio, 1999 Volvo S70, is blank. Does not say enter code or off. The lights for the buttons are all on, but when I try to turn the radio on nothing happens. No lights change or flash and nothing on the display. Any suggeations? Thanx, Dave

Leave the key in the first position for a couple of hours until the radio displays "code" in place of "off" then you will be able to enter the radio code.
When the radio displays CODE, you may enter the code using the preset radio station buttons
For instance, my number is 1615, so when I get the CODE on the radio's display, I press the radio preset button 1, then the radio preset button 6, then the radio preset button 1, then the radio preset button 5.
If your radio says OFF, leave the ignition on in the first position for 2 1/2 to 3 hours in order for it to display CODE. In certain models you can clear the OFF state by pulling the fuse for the radio (#7 in my car). That's a bit simpler than leaving the ignition in the first position for a couple of hours - particularly if you don't have a garage.
put a battery charger on the battery, turn key to on postion[engine not running] turn radio to on and let it sit there like that for about 5 hours or untill radio say code then enter right code. if battery goes dead during this you have to dtart over
If the radio is original to the car then they dealer can look up your VIN in the computer and print you out a sheet with your warranty information and it has the code on it. The service writers can do it from the service drive.
If you just have the radio, then the parts department can look up the code.
Turn on the radio. Turn the key to radio position and wait. This may take anything from 10 minutes to four hours. After the radio is asking the code again, punch it in.
You have to put the battery on a charger and leave the key turned to the accessory position, meaning the car is not running but the radio still displays off. You will have to wait approximately 50 minutes to 2 hours till the word "code" is displayed.Once that has occured, you can put in your code and it will work. Or you can drive around for that length of time until it says code and you will input the correct code and you radio will work. I did this on a long trip.
To reset the radio you have to leave the key in position one (the radio will come on, but the dash lights are not on) with the radio on for at least two hours. It can take up to four hours to reset.
Make sure the climate control and blower are in the off position to keep the battery from running down. Eventually the radio will say "code". There is a four digit code that is unique to each radio, if you don't have it you must contact the local Volvo dealer and have your VIN code. The VIN code is locate on the far top/right side of the dash, you must be outside the car to see it. It will begin with something like YV1LS...................
When you get this code from the dealer you input the code using the radio preset (1-6 buttons). If the radio says code again that means it is the incorrect radio code. Most likely the radio has been replaced. Then it would be alot easier to take it to the dealer since the radio has to be removed and the serial number taken off the radio chassis unit. Usually most dealers will do it for free if they think you'll come back for services, so just tell them you just bought it and be nice, hopefully it will work.
Worked like a champ. Cant' believe it was just that easy.
