I have a Valet key and that's it Was working fine. Turned the alarm off by unlocking driver's side door from outside (Never tried to turn off alarm with door unlock button) the Gas Cover door and trunk would open only with the door levers. Now (Valet key) only opens Driver's side door and Works in the Ignition. While unlocking, Starting and Driving the Car the Alarm sounds for one minute regardless and trunk will no open while red light is blinking on Driver's side door lock button (Red light on Driver's side door lock button will not turn off). Disconnected small Red wire next to Large Black wire on positive side Terminal block and alarm is off but, of course nothing works now. Reconnect and Larms sounds again. :(
The valet key doesnt have a transponder chip in it, so it will allow physical turning of keyways and operations, but will not disable the alarm and often wont disable the immobilizer.
sorry to say i think you will need to get an autolocksmith , or main dealer to get you a functioning key with transponder chip mapped to your cars rfid system that will allow alarm to be enabled /disabled

First to turn off the alarm you simply put the key into the drivers door and turn it to unlock the door twice, this is the factory setting to turn off activated Volkswagen alarm. As for the power locks they are air activated, in the trunk near the latch there should be a small electric motor that drives a small air pump with air lines running to all your locks. If this electric motor as worn out your locks will not operate, simple fix replace the motor. I'd try a used one first from a scrap yard to make sure but always check to see if there is power to the motor (you will need another person with a test light to perform this job). Let me know if this works. Vdubs 4-ever !

Do you have a key fob? Unlock the car with that and you should be OK. My sons Elantra is the same way, you can only get in with the fob. I guess the car thinks it's being stolen otherwise. If you don't have a fob, I'm no help

Go to your local junk or scrapyard and pull them yourself. The dealer charges an average of 90-100 dollars an hour. So a lot of the money they quoted you for was probably for labor

YOU MIGHT NEED TO BY PASS THE SYSTEM IF YOU DONT WANT TO MESS WITH IT OR TRY TO ALL THE SENSORS ON THE DOORS MAYTHEYRE NOT WORKING SOMETIMES THE RUBBER SEALS BRAKE AND THEN WATER MAY GET INTO THEM
