It is best to have the ECM that came from the vehicle the engine did . As to your question I would say yes

either you have an oil leak somewhere... or your oil pump is going bad!

water pump cud be failin--plugs wire probly hav inside wear as well as distributer-inspect--du a scan of vehicle for any codes

next step is to remove the intake, you are on the right track, worse i ever found was a cracke block, but that was in a 61 t-bird which was repaired with jb weld ten yrs ago and still holding, but the intake gasket sounds right

Yep that is what the code is for. Make sure the passage is clean after you pull it off.

The freeze plug you replaced was due to rust or was it pushed out by freezing temperature? These plugs are not designed to protect the engine block from cracking during freezing temperatures, they are there to remove the sand from the block after casting it. I would drain your system completely and flush out the radiator thouroughly and fill with plain water, then run the engine and see if oil gets in the water, if it does and the plug was out due to freeze, then your block is probably cracked, although you could just have a head gasket leak. Oil pressure (40psi) is higher then water pressure (17psi), so getting oil in the water is always more prominent than the other way around. Flush out the system and let me know if oil returns to the water, hope this helps

i would try to flush the cooling system completely
if I had to guess someone put stop leak in it when the freeze plug started leaking
also check the oil to make sure there is no water in the oil

Hello, it seems that you have intake gaskets leaking. I'll bet you have the vortec 350. This is a common problem with the vortec, Gm uses plastic intake gaskets and they blow out over time usually to the externally but yours is internally.It is a pretty easy fix for the average mechanic to do. Had the same problem with my '96 Silverado with 350 Vortec. The truck would only crank. It would start if fuel was poured down the throttle body. Could not hear the fuel pump hum. Fuse was good, but could not hear relay click. Relay was good, Did some electrical wiring trouble shooting. Turned out that one of the connectors that clasp onto one of the pins of the fuel pump relay wasn't making a good connection, too loose. I just stuck a peice of wire into the connector and pushed the relay back in. Relay clicked, Truck Started. It's been more than 4 yrs. since I made that McGuyver fix. Still firing.
