What kind of automatic transmission fluid to use
SOURCE: What automatic transmission fluid(s) (ATF) can I
I would recommend redline D4. It is VW and Audi and Volvo applications at the shop. It is a synthetic fluid. which also cures a lot of drivability issues known with the vw an audi automatics.
Feel lucky your car has made it this far!!! I need to know engine, tranny, sub model etc..

No, no such animal. Trans oil needs a means of ck'ing. lokk for a dipstick more to the rear of the engine close to the firewall.
SOURCE: where is the drain plug located on a Volvo 2000
There no tranny drain plug, you must drop the pan to change the fluid and filter. Standard fluid is fne. I believe Dextron3 but double check with the autoparts store (tell them you have a volvo) and they can lookup the correct type of ATF.
SOURCE: How do I drain and change the automatic
i wouldn't recommend doing this yourself. you will get alot more benefit if it is done at a shop where they can suction out the ATF. Volvo also requires synthetic ATF.
