2004 grand caravan, 97.000 miles, where is the PVC valve and can this be the problem with the engine light being lit up on my dash? What should I try first? Is this something I can do myself?
HelperHelpee has suggested taking it to a garage to test it on the computer. I have had my van in to the Chrysler Dealership numerous times and each time they try something different. It seems to me they are simply guessing. When the engine light is on my van tends to sputter when accelerating.HelperHelpee has suggested taking it to a garage to test it on the computer. The engine light could be on for a multitude of reasons. Your best bet is to find a garage that will hook it up to the computer (many do this free of charge) where they can get the code, look it up and find out the cause. I had an uncommon code come up for my car (the light was on when I bought it) that the garage did not know but after running an online search of the code, I found out it was a fan fuse under the hood! The 1st code that came up was for a filter that needed changing and then the light came on again and it was the unknown code. Don't try and guess, it could be almost anything.

Interesting same thing here, radio and a/c controls, the cabinet ambiant and the pocket lights on the doors but not the cabin, or dash, or information panel. Have you gotten yours fixed yet, I have check the connectors, pulled the fuse, nothinig found an odd thing drove it through dusk when the auto lights came on and wala there it was for 4 days and gone again.
REMOVE PVC VALVE WITH VACUUM HOSE STILL ATTACHED CHECK FOR VACUUM AT PVC VALVE PLACING FINGER OVER IT.IF NO VACUUM FROM PVC VALVE BUT THE HOSE TO PVC VALVE HAS VACUUM REPLACE PVC VALVE.IF NO VACUUM GETTING THROUGH PVC HOSE AND VALVE.LOOK FOR DISCONNECTED BROKEN VACUUM HOSE OR OBSTRUCTION IN VACUUM HOSE BLOCKING OFF VACUUM.
IT IS CAUSED BY ENGINE BLOWBY(COMPRESSION GETTING PAST THE PISTION RINGS)KEEP CHANGING THE PCV VALVES IT IS MUCH ,MUCH CHEAPER THAN REBUILDING THE ENGINE
if it is a 2004 the 3 yr 36000 mile warranty has probably expired. i assume it has a 2.4L the egr is on the drivers side rear part of the head...if memory serves me correctl the valve is about $125 plus and hour of labor
most likelly will be behind the center of the dash in the lower part of it remove the plastic cover ant lower center of dash and should be a little plastic cover to remove filter
and thank for include engine size with question that make it easer to answer. good luck
