Po300 is random miss fire doubtful two O2 sensors bad at one time most likely coolant temp sensor is bad causing engine to run rich this will cause O2 sensors to throw a code(thats what they are there for..exhaust gas temp. and raw fuel) running rich will also fowl spark plugs(=miss fire) P1128 ??

SOURCE: o 02 jeep liberty oil pressure light stays on

A couple of things could be wrong a bad oil pressure sensor, a short in the sensor wiring,low idle oil pressure. Checking this is simple on some models.

While disconnecting the sensor from its wired connector and the light stays on is a short in the wiring, if it stays off its hopefully a bad sensor. Before just replacing the sensor I would either buy a gauge to check the pressure at the engine and thus checking the sensor also. I HATE DUMMY LIGHTS!!!

Gauges are simple, easy to install and easy to see a problem before engine damage occurs. On the bad end of the spectrum of possible problems the oil pump may be worn out, or even the engine may be worn out to the point oil pressure loss at low idle or while oil is sloshing forwards at stop signs.

Hope helped with this. remember rated this help.

SOURCE: 02 jeep liberty won't shift into 3rd or 4th gear.

Ratio codes generally indicate a pressure loss & slipping which the computer reads as a gear ratio problem. Likely you need a rebuild.

SOURCE: 2002 Jeep Liberty P0174 code and mech has changed the o2 sensor

Can't tell you exactly what is wrong but the one thing you said is of concern...Map sensor should not be full of oil. If it is, I'd want to know why. In finding the reason for that, you may also find the reason why you are having a problem.
Jeep uses two kinds of engine crank venting. you either have a pcv valve or an orifice controlled system. If either are obstructed it can overpressure the crankcase and cause all kinds of problems.
Years of experience tells me this isn't something I can guess at and be 100% sure I have the right answer but based on what you said, I'd look there first!

SOURCE: codes don't show up

p500=Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction (VSS)
p1540=VSS Signal Too High
P1507= Vehicle speed/Idle Speed Actuator
Speed sensor is faulty or has a bad connection.

Jeep Liberty 2002 woahs !
by porth21 - 2/1/09 7:35 AM In reply to: Jeep Liberty 2002 speedometer not working by Dannywon
I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited with the same problem. The main problem I have found to be the routing of the speed sensor wires located on the rear difrential. They are 2 blue wires on my jeep and probably the same on yours. The problem is that they rub on the E-brake cable and once the wire is exposed they short and the speedometer and any other options running off they speed sensor quit working and that includes the tranny shift points and can cause the torque converter to not unlock and cause stalls. I am having the same problem for the third time and chrysler and jeep are both aware of the problem and unwilling to repair the problem or post a recall.

    I have a 2002 jeep liberty with engine light on. Took it to autozone for a diagnosis and code PO161 came up. I know its an O2 sensor, It says to check circuit fuse. Where do I find the circuit fuse and how...

    P0161 is 02 heater Circuit ( Bank 2 Sensor 2 ). There is no mention of any Fuse and there should not be .Circuit refers to the two wires extending from the jeeps computer dirrectly to the 02 sensor in question which would be in this case Bank 2 sensor 2. So the computer is transmitting a signal to the 02 sensor and not receiving a sgnal back it automatically thinks the circuit is at fault, when it is not.It is not receiving any Data back from the 02 sensor because the sensor is defective and needs to be replaced. If you replace one sensor you should replace all 4 of them. If you only replace one then it will be transmitting Data back to the computer at a much faster rate than the other 3 old ones and this could cause more problems and more codes to be set by the computer.Remember to have all the codes cleared from the computer after all repairs are compleated, This will turn off the check engine light. Good Luck and have a good XMASS.

    2002 Jeep Liberty 3.7L Engine Swap to newer 2004 engine

    Has anyone made this work yet? I have the same problem 2002 jeep 3.7 and just installed a 04 motor. Timing is off. Some one had a good idea of mounting the crank gear to the out side of the harmonic ballancer and mounting the sensor with a bracket. What about the cam gear on the left side. Does the timing cahain have to come off to remove it? Or has any one swaped the wiring harnest, and computer.

    If your engine light came on, the engine module could have stored a code.
    You need to have a scanner to check what code it is and that will point you toward the solution.
    Possible causes could be (crank sensor, tps sensor or oxygen sensor).
    Don't go replacing parts until you scan the vehicle for codes first.
