If you got one at pepboys or any other parts store, other than at the dealership this does happen.

SOURCE: 1996 HONDA ACCORD CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AND CAMSHAFT SENSOR.

befor in the ealier models of accords they use to be both the cam and crank sensors in the distibutor but they separated them !!!So no they are not together on your car tha cam sensor is in the distributor and the crank sensor is in front of engine or in the lower timing belt cover if it is in the timing cover you can see a wire going dow the timing cover way to the bottom on the rear side off it

SOURCE: Where is the camshaft position sensor located-99 Chevy Lumina 3.1

It's held down by one bolt right above the timing chain cover. It's next to the head that's facing toward the front of the car.

If you have bearing problems MAP sensor codes are the least of your worries. Check on the cost of getting a new engine. I hope this is not the problem. Good luck Moe

SOURCE: I need to know were the camshaft position sensor

look on the side or rear of the engine in the area of the cam it will be in close proximity to the cam it is usually recessed into the engine block but can also look like a relay but it will have a wire harness plug on it also its usually located any where from the midle of the engine to the right side front or rear.

I have a 98 chevy z71 5.7 350 vortec, i have a p1345 code that stays on i clear it and as i restart the truck it comes back on, the truck runs great and has a small delay when starrted.. what can/do i need...

1345 is cam and crank sensor correlation its mainly the cam sensor going out, also the delay start that also trigger a camsensor code they call it excessive crank time check the fuel pressure that is capable of setting a cam code (1345) If fuel pressure is good (55-60 psi) expect to replace the camsensor you might as well do the crank sensor heres a nightmare on this code it can set if the distributor is off one tooth and yes these distributor have high failure rate

Dosen't start cranck ok i change comp on dash sais

One thing to check: the Neon SOHC engines have a design flaw where the pin that aligns the timing belt sprocket to the camshaft shears off. The sprocket can then slip but still appears to be lined up properly. On later models the engine control software detects this because the crankshaft and camshaft sensors are out of sync and the result is that it can shut down the ignition and fuel injection but not set a code (not enough run time). Verify by taking out plugs and checking compression. If the camshaft is out of time, compression will be low. Also, valves can be bent if the sprocket slipped too much. This is the problem I had.

Crank won't start, no spark at any spark plug wires, cranck shaf sensor has been replaced, fuel pressure at 45 PSI.

Might want to take a look at the camshaft position sensor. Shouldn't run much over $20

MY 1998 DODGE NEON WONT START. I WAS TOLD TO REPLACE THE CAM SENSOR AND DID SO. THE COIL WAS CHECKED AND ITS GOOD. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM

I bought one with the same problem, the mechanic chaged: camshaft sensor (it was ok), the coil pack (was ok too), the pcmodule( ok too) the arness (ok) and did not start. I checked timing belt and was ok. but wen I did the compresion test , every cilynder was too low ( 10 30 an 0), my firsth idea was head gasket replecement, and wen was remooving the camshaft sprocket Bingo: the small pin was broken (that means that the camshaft sprocket was not align in time) Had to chage the head an the camshaft both in terrible shape. bad lobes and cam bearings worn out. wen I crancked it start at the first time. PD. the head wasnt craked, the head gasket was good too and the valves ok .

Same thing happened to me. It was giving me problems starting it. It died on me at the stop sign last week. I kept driving. On Friday it shut down on me while doing 60mph on the hwy. I towed it to the nearest dealer. The said they had top replace the cranck sensor and a cam sensor. I paid $1,043.01 for that. Today I couldn't start it....
