I have a 2002 jeep Cherokee oil gauge show max out when i start the Eng

When oil is cold, pressure will read high, but as it warms up pressure indicator should drop to normal. Are you using the correct weight oil for your weather conditions? Running straight 30 weight, or say 20w50 could cause this issue.

How do I check oil pressure with a guage

Remove the oil pressure switch. It is typically located near the oil filter. Install the appropriate fitting from the oil pressure gauge kit. Install the gauge. Start the vehicle.

2002 jeep grand cherokee, oil pressure guage to the maximum high limit. Oil level okay, Oil change mechanic says common among these cars. I'm still curious what to do. thank you. 6 cyl.

It may be that the oil pressure switch is faulty. Find the oil pressure switch and unplug it and see it it goes to the min. If it does I would suggest getting a new switch. Also, the oil pressure switch wire might be grounded out against the body or the motor somewhere.

High oil pressure on guage. It goes to zero with engine off. Where is the sensor?

High oil pressure is ok, lack of pressure if the engine is running, is very bad. Pressure is supposed to drop to zero as soon as you turn off the engine, nothing abnormal about that.

Jeep Grand Cherokee almost overheating!

Check your oil level first and make sure its at the correct level. A couple of things, if your guage is going up it's a bad guage/sending unit are easiest checks. If it goes way up while driving you probably have an oil passage blocked somewhere causing the pressure to spike maybe a spun bearing (lower motor). Does it make any rattling/knocking noise? If not I would get it checked out ASAP, low/high oul pressure can lead to severe engine damage/failure.

2004 Grand Cherokee: oil pressure fluctuates

if you know for certain that the sending unit is correct and the guage is accurate, then yiu may have big problems.....while the engine is running open the oil filler hole.. is everything wet with oil? or does it look dry or just a little lubed? you can allways install an aftermarket oil pressure guage(crappy tire) if you get the same results with that then you may have a week oil pump....worst case scenerio... need an engine rebuild as the moter may have wear issues.does the pressure slowly drop as the motor warms up? at idle ? does it jump up when you step on the gas?

Engine light on/Oil Gauge on stays on high

Any waranties left? Is oil full? Any noises from engine? Did you put a mechanical gauge on it and check "real" oil pressure? (I would not drive it 'till I was sure about actual oil pressure!!)

Hi grand cherokee 1999 ,the oil guage read to MAX.

Just got word from an expert standing behind me (my son); remove the oil pressure sensor (on an I6) near the oil filter, clean it (small orifice) and put it back in. They just 'cured' one this AM.
If it doesn't work, (does 2 of 3 times) it is not an expensive part and widely available.
