1997 ford explorer AWD front drive shaft problem...

Is there a front drive shaft on this vehicle? Took it into be srviced and mechanic said my front end grind (sounds like muffler dragging in front) was my drive shaft needing replacement. Price tag $655 ouch any suggestions our used part dealers?

Never drive that vehicle without the driveshafts installed, it WILL RUIN the transfer case. Find a real mechanic to find out how much damage you did.

97 ford explorer awd bad right front cv joint

Yes you can, If you have taken the front drive shaft off, you can even still drive with the CV joint in place till you want to remove it. You may get some vibration around corners till you replace the CV joint or remove it totally.
But if your going to remove it, might as well wait till you have the replacement so you only do the job once. I had a Bad CV joint on a AWD Chevy van and did the same thing so i could still use it, and then replaced the CV joint when the weather got better.

awd and 4wd vehicles can't have 2 different size tires run or it will damage the transfer case,but you should be able to get a new bar i beleive what your talking about is called a torsion bar
