TTC Solenoid (torque converter) as you were told

It's like coming to a stop & not putting your clutch in
& stalling the car

SOURCE: transmission wont go into any gear except reverse

NO I think your forward band broke can you manually shift it to low & car moves If so you need trans overhaul. Don't have that mechanic fix your car he is full of it if converter failed or (SENSOR!!) you would also have no reverse

SOURCE: 2000 Pontiac Sunfire, 2.2 litre engine, automatic.

i wouldn't be looking at the o2 sensors! look at the coolant temp sensor! when the car is cold it doesn't correct fuel & air ratio until it is warm so it is not looking at the o2's till then! if the sensor is bad and telling the computer it is warm when it is cold them it would be leaned out and run like that then when the car gets warm it's fine because the sensor is still saying it's warm! would be the opisite if it went bad and was telling the computer it was cold! that is a sure sign of the temp sensor being bad! good luck

Testimonial: "Thanks. I'll look into that. Coolant sensors are a lot cheaper than O2 sensors too. :-)"

SOURCE: my transmission is slipping when accelerating from

The forward clutches are going bad is the most likely problem. To repair the trans should be rebuilt.

Testimonial: "That's what I was afraid of, a total rebuild. "

SOURCE: CAR WONT START,OBD SHOWED EGR AND MAF SENSOR

well the egr could be stuck open acting like a vacum leak,,,and causing the car to stall,,,you need a new egr,,,,check the wires and if any vacum hoses that go to it,to make sure they are good and connected first,if so replace the egr,,,,it could be false dtc for MAF sensor,,,

SOURCE: gear type noise when driving.noise changes with

Hi, if this noise changes when turning left or right, (gets louder or quieter), there is a good chance a front hub is bad. For instance, if you turn right, and the noise gets louder, the left hub is bad, and vice versa for the other side. You can normally jack it up, spin the wheel and hear the noise, or wiggle the wheel, and see if it has play. Good luck...

What causes it to shut off every time I stop at a light or stop sign?

Check you Throttle position sensor (TPS) and you AIS motor these 2 are designed to keep your cars idle up when your a/c or defroster is on.(AIS) The TPS helps to regulate the fuel needed by how the accel. pedal is being depressed. These are the easiest to check, you could have a transmission torque convertor that is staying locked up and dragging the motor down when you stop, when the engine dies it unlocks and will work until the next time, this would take a lot of diagnostic time to verify.

98 SW wagon starts fine but stalls out when put into drive or reverse. Code P0743 comes up after diagnostic check. Says Torque Converter Circuit is open. How do I go about fixing this?

I was definitely gonna say your torque converter. The fix is to replace your torque converter. The convertor basically transfers the moving motion from the engine to the non moving motion of your transmission smoothly. When it goes bad it will usually make the motor run rough in gear or stall the motor when it's completely bad. It will be a fairly expensive cost since the torque convertor sits between the engine and transmission. It also could be faulty wiring as well. You would have to have it physically diagnosed by a mechanic to confirm if its electrical or the actual torque convertor.

It wont pass smog and the mechanic told me it was the egr valve i changed it and it still wont pass

it can be complicated to pass the smog test! check your gas cap. thats the most common reason for a fail! they will not tell you that. you can have it code read at any autozone or advance auto for free if your check engine lights on.[only] otherwise you're at the mercy of the only garage you trust. it may be a bad 02 sensor, you have 2 [cost around $75.00]each. it may be stopped up catalytac convertor,do you smell rotten eggs when driving or at idle? thats a sign of bad convertor. good luck and thank you for choosing fixya.com

My 98 dodge ram vibrates bad at 40 mph plus at a steady low rpm. if i step on the gas it kinda stops and if i let go of the gas is stops completely it also started misfiring when it started this

Torque convertor shutter? Maintain the speed that it does this, and with your left foot, apply a small amount of pressure to the brake pedal. Not enough to slow vehicle, but enough to disengage the lock up convertor. If it goes away, try servicing the fluid with new 7176. if that doesnt do it, replace the convertor.

The car just stalls at a stop sign or at very slow speed. Any ideas?

This could be due to your transmission/torque convertor lock not disengaging...try putting the car in neutral next time and see what happens.

In reverse my f 150 1992 shut off

Sounds like torque convertor is locked up. A locked up torque convertor will cause it to stall as soon as you go to reverse, you may also get the sensation when coming to a stop like a straight drive trans just before you push in the clutch.

03 focus 2.0 zetec auto wont start

the heated o2 sensor is bad or has a bad connection it is usually the sensor after the catalytic converter and from the description you gave i wold say it is the one after the converter and you need to check any engine speed sensors crank sensors or cam sensors. the crank sensor would be by the crankshaft im not sure where the cam sensor would be and some vehicles wont have one im not sure if yours does

Transmission

Very high probability an internal transmission problem.Check fluid level.Could be the torque convertor failed internally,or Low/Reverse band or servo.Remove transmission pan and look for any failed parts, metal chunks,etc..Scan for diagnostic trouble codes.Could hook a 0-300 psi pressure gauge, and do a line pressure test before removing pan.If line pressure is out of specification, internal problem.Good luck.
