SOURCE: How do you replace the hood badge? 98 BMW Z3

Allow some warm water mixed with dish soap to penetrate around the edges of the old ornament. Gently slide a pry tool into the top or bottom center. The hold downs (plastic clips that SHOULD pop) are going to be on the left/right middle. While continuing to pour some warm water and dish soap around the pry point, work the pry tool around the circle. If you don't have a pry tool, use a non-ridged butterknife wrapped in electrical tape. It will take some force to remove, but it will come out.

Please note, you CANNOT re-use the clips. Your new hood ornament should have some with it.

Remove ALL old adhesive from the paint surface so that the new ornament will go on smoothly. Best of luck!

SOURCE: How to replace/install a fuel pump on a 1997 BMW

Installing a water pump. Courtesy of Dana Corporation.

  • Loosen and remove the bolts in a crisscross pattern from the center outward.
  • Insert a rag into the block opening and scrape off any remains of the old gasket.
WARNING When working on the coolant system (for example, replacing the water pump or thermostat), a certain amount of coolant will spill on the floor. The antifreeze in the coolant causes it to be very slippery. Always immediately wipe up any coolant that spills to reduce or eliminate the chance of injury.
  • When replacing a water pump, always follow the procedures recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Most often a coating of good waterproof sealer should be applied to a new gasket before it is placed into position on the water pump.
  • Coat the other side of the gasket with sealer, and position the pump against the engine block until it is properly seated.
  • Install the mounting bolts and tighten them evenly in a staggered sequence to the torque specifications with a torque wrench. Careless tightening could cause the pump housing to crack. Check the pump to make sure it rotates freely.
  • The water pumps on many late-model OHC engines are driven by the engine's timing belt. When replacing the water pump on these engines, always replace the timing belt.
  • Make sure all pulleys and gears are aligned according to specifications when installing the belt. NOTE THIS IS FOR A 1.9 4CYL

1996 BMW z3 1.9 just blew top hose off radiator.no previous overheating problems. Could it be stuck thermostat?

Hoses wear out , replace it . That hose is under a lot of pressure and heat and everything wears out and has a life. I would say that was a helluva hose to last that long and would suggest you look at all your hoses and belts especially if they have never been replaced.

the problem is that it has been parked up for 8 yrs, you really need to get a decent mobile mechanic to give it the once over, there are a number of things that it could be, they don't like being left that long & not at least started.

My 1996 z3 is overheating while I have replaced water pump thermostat, and radiator, car still overheats

Check the electric fan(s) if equipped. If it has a belt driven fan, replace the fan clutch. Also rechecking the thermostat is a good idea too, they are sometimes bad right off the shelf.

if you can heard the fuel pump noise and sure that you have enough fuel, then it may be you have a problem with ignition system or faulty crankshaft sensor.
