My 1990 BMW 525i is over heating

Try replacing the thermostat. It is supposed to open when the water temp reaches a certain point usually around 180 degrees. It might be stuck in the closed position.

How easy is it to replace a 1990 BMW 535i thermastat

Quite easy job.

Locate top radiator hose, follow it to the engine, undo the hose. What it is connected to is the thermostat housing. Undo 2-3 bolts connecting it to the engine block. Lift out the thermostat which is a diamond shaped unit.

Replace it with a new one. And refit the pipe. You might need to bleed the radiator in case of any air bubbles. Run the car with the radiator cap off. Top up the coolant level until the fan kicks in twice (20 mins).

Hope this helps and please vote for me, thanks.

How to replace a radiator for a 525i bmw when the tranmission hoses go in different places?

I would take it back and get one that matches. do the hoses even reach?
If you want to force it to work then you risk inefficient cooling of the gearbox oil but the lower hose is usually the out hose from the radiator and the upper hose is fluid in. :O)

How much would it cost to replace a 2001 BMW 330i radiator? It has been leaking each time i would replace the coolant, and in the meantime i've been just replacing it with water so the car wouldn't...

you can get the tanks removed & the core cleaned out at a radiator specialist for around 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of a new one
dont forget to have them flush the engine too!
& replace the hoses& clamps aswell as the thermostat! otherwise its a waisted effort & $$$$$ because old gunk could block the recoed radiator

Coolant flush

look on the radiator next to the top hose connection, also on the thermostat housing there should be a small screw, bleed the thermostat housing first then the radiator

Bad radiator

actually just unlpug all the hoses and take any thing than is on the way to remove it, then afer you replace it, some over flow bottles for the cooling systems have, a little plastic bolt by the cooling system cap have the bolt loose while you fill it with coolant and then it will remove any air trap on the cooling system then tie the bolt when system is full and place the cap on.
