The 'oil' message displayed is a service light. This can only be reset by an Audi dealership or a very well equipped shop.

Do not worry. It has nothing to do with oil pressure, temperature, etc. It is simply a service reminder.

Most cars have a self diagnosis proceedure during and just after startup. this is not a fault unless it appears while going round corners or just generally driving around. you have had the sense to check your levels and pressures then i wouldnt worry too much about it unless it stays on or is as i say on while driving.

no rpoblems thanks for the feed back. if the warning light does stay on or like i say come on while its driveing i would take to garage or do the obvious and check levels and such.

I would agree sounds like a faulty switch, its a cheap part just change it. However why are you changing your oil every 40 day?? 10-12,000 miles is more than sufficient. Changing oil too often is actually bad for your engine!

Hello Kemi1017,

Scared is good (unless you are independently wealthy).

It would be wonderful if your OIL SENSOR (pressure switch)
were suddenly bad... but that is not the way to BET YOUR MONEY.

More likely it is a problem with the OIL PUMP itself or
worse general wear condition of the engine (can't
even properly speculate without the year, mileage and
an operating history of the vehicle...

AUDI A6 spans decades... Quite a wonderful vehicle

(See FACTORY specifications at bottom).

For my MONEY... (FREE services available)
I would look to the MANUFACTURERS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS and WIRING DIAGRAMS available on BBB Industries website (see bottom, below)... REGISTRATION is required as these are REAL DOCUMENTS..

Driving a vehicle without adequate oil pressure can
destroy the engine (easily).

If you are not into taking the ALARM seriously...
by all means keep shopping for an ALARM SWITCH

Hopefully the CLATTER of your engine will hold
your attention... until you properly address
your OIL PRESSURE PROBLEM.

TIMELY maintenance will hold down costs considerably.

Good luck.

My 1996 audi A6 has an oil sending unit problem...can you tell me what that might take to fix and why would this show leaking oil? I thought this part was inside the oil pan?

The oil pressure sender unit is located on the oil filter housing. These do tend to leak at times. The warning light for this switch is a red oil can and a buzzer. Replace the switch. If warning light still comes on, have the oil pressure checked. The oil level sender warning light is an orange oil can with oil level under it. This sender is fitted on the bottom of the oil sump and can leak past the seal. If warning light comes on, check oil level. If ok, check for damage to wiring under vehicle. Senders do some times become faulty.

Yellow oil symbol kept turning on

this could be due to low oil. you need to check your oil level. if it is full i would do an oil change with a bmw filter. there is a difference in filters. the service engine soon light will have to be diagnosed. meaning pull codes to point you in the right direction. great car though. happy holidays

Check the oil level is ok, change the oil if it hasn't been recently done.
Check operation of the oil press alarm sensor,
Check the oil pressure - using an independant oil pressure gauge if in doubt.

07 camry oil filter location v6

The oil filter is no longer a "spin-on" type filter. Toyota has changed to the "cartridge" type filters that are in a cylindrical housing on the engine. You need to remove the filter housing to access the cartridge. Make sure that you replace the o-rings that come out with the cartridge filter with the new ones supplied in the new filter box. To reset the light, follow these directions:

Turn the key ON, do not start the engine.

Look at the odometer, and verify that it displays "TRIP A". If it is on "ODO" or "Trip B", press the black stick next to the odometer to read "TRIP A".

Turn the key OFF.

Press in, and HOLD the black trip meter reset button, hold it IN.
DO not release it.

Turn the key ON, do not start the engine

Observe the Odometer display. You will see 5 dashes, then 4, then 3, then 2, then 1 dash, and finally, 5 zeros. Then, whatever number that was displayed on "TRIP A" will be re-displayed..

Now release the black trip meter reset stick.

This completes the reset procedure, and it will be back on in 5,000 miles, to remind you of you next oil change.
