My 2005 jeep liberty is stuck in park

What else is there to say the shift lever is stuck in the park position

I had the same problem with a 2006 Jeep Liberty. I found the solenoid that locks the shifter stuck. This solenoid is energized when the bake pedal is applied, then in turn releases the shifter. If this is your problem, then the console has to be removed and the solenoid plunger has to be worked free or the solenoid replaced.

This is not intended to sound rude, but have tried depressing the brake as you attemp to shift? I am the guy that all my friends call for advice and believe me this would not be the first or the last time for this question in my lifetime.

SOURCE: how to replace rear brake pads on 2005 jeep liberty

put the back of car on jack stands and secure the front tires so it does not roll and then remove the bolts off the back of the caliper there is normally two one at top and one at bottom and spray it with some kind of oil for rust and make sure you have the right size socket before you try to loosen them and once caliper is off and the old pads removed take one of the old pads and squeeze the piston on the caliper back in by using a "C" clamp and also remove some of the brake fluid from the master cylinder before you do this put the new ones back on and check the brake fluid and make sure it is full and then pump the brakes to make sure you have a good pedal also put some "No Squeak" brake stop on the back of the pads so they don't squeak they will have that where you buy the pads from

SOURCE: 2005 Jeep Liberty stuck in Part Time 4wd

I questioned the dealer about my 2005 because mine was disengaging what I thought to be rough compared to what I was used to. They told me that I should shift the vehicle into Neutral before shifting the selector. I have also found that shifting between Reverse and Drive a couple of times while stopped has helped as well. By doing these couple of things, I have had no trouble since. I hope this helps as it might at least be something to try.

Try slowly moving the vehicle in reverse and trying to shift back to 2 wd.....do not force.....shift fork damage could occur.....Try slowly moving the vehicle forward as well....Move the shifter firmly but don't force it.......Make sure the hub locks are in the free position too...........

Key stuck in the ignition slot and can not remove it?

Actually a simple fix: there is a set screw on the front of the shift knob. Loosen it and gently pull up on the shift lever while the shifter is in park. Tighten the screw while making sure the lever doesn't drop again. Make sure everything works. The problem is caused by someone leaning on the shift lever, causing the linkage to go out of adjustment . The linkage is adjusted by raising and lowering the shift lever. ( there will be hundreds of mechanism mad at me for giving away one of t here moneymaking secrets.)
