SOURCE: front end shimmy over 60 miles per hour
If you are experiencing a "shimmy" that only occurs at a certain speed, I'd suspect a tire balance issue. If it were in the alignment, the problem would manifest itself at all speeds not just at 60 mph. There's a chance that a wheel weight fell off or the tires have uneven wear. If you do have uneven wear on the tires, then you may worn front end parts that need to be dealt with. Incorrect tire pressure can cause uneven wear as well. Hope this helps.

Tires may need to be balanced. And or wheel alignment needs to be checked at a service center.
SOURCE: the front end shakes violently when i reach 55
check if wheels are balance properly
check for tire wear, if even
check for loose in direction, ball joint, tie rods,
if 4x4 check for front drive shaft

Yes, if you are missing the "Steering Stabilizer" from the front end of that vehicle then you can expect there to be an un-stable steering control especially at higher speeds, and you should replace it and see if that solves the problem.
Other common causes for that to happen are bent rims, out of round or out of balance tires (the tires might even look alright and show no signs of a problem until you actually spin them and see if they are true.), worn out or damaged wheel/hub bearings, ball joints, or tie rods, a loose steering rack, the rear axle not tracking right with the front axle/tires, a loose or broken shock absorber or strut, a loose or broken motor mount or transmission mount, and then there is the drive shaft, and a bad universal joint can also cause that vibration.

check condition of front tire, also the balance of the fronts 65 is a common speed for tire vibration. do not overlook steering play(tie rods, ball joints) also bent wheel. any noise? could have wheel bearing issue. lots of places, like vip, pepboys, etc. will check front end for free hopeing to sell you a part. not bad deal because you do need "something" even if it is tires balanced.
