What do l do help me
Hi i have 97 audi a4 1.8t qua. It overheats it also has some kind of thick brown liquid in the coolant system. could u help me. thankss
You probably have a leak in your oil cooler. This is causing the oil to bleed into your cooling system causing the "thick brown liquid". This in turn will also cause your engine to over-heat since the cooling system is contaminated.

You have air trapped in system , change thermostat , bleed air from system , let it run hot while adding coolant with blower full blast on all front and rear heaters .
Cannot say i do offhand but yes your diagnosis is correct thats for sure and to get to anything i think you will need to remove the dash ,not a difficult job just time consuming thats all and remember to refit all the screws back in use a mobile phone to take lots of pics as you take it apart and hope your back is ok for all the bending upside down to do this job
