My battery on my 98 Ford Expedition always dead and I just replaced the starter. I also pull the fuse that controls power windows, power door locks, exterior, and interior lights.

I have already fixed the door ajar switch in the lift gate, I just pull the fuse by habit. What else could it be. I have had the battery load tested as well and it is good.

Have to do a Parasitic Current Drain
on all fused circuits

Google what that entails
or watch on You Tube Video

Thank you Peter but I have already done that and there wasn't a change in the amps

I take the last comment back. :( just redid the whole "pull one fuse at a time " and I found that fuse position 6 (radio, premium sound amplifier, cd changer, rear integrated control panel, sub woofer power (fuse 3 & fuse 5) and fuse position 22 (junction box fuse/relay panel battery feed), both under the hood showed change on the meter. Also fuse position 15 (general electric module(GEM), passive anti-theft system (PATS) module) in the cab of the truck also showed change on the meter. So now what do I need to do? I am TIRED of this FORD!!!!

1997 Ford Explorer 5.0 V8 AWD diagram of wiring in Drivers door?

do to any electrical work remove neg battery lug first
and not blow up expensive modules.
door locks dead
or door windows
or both.
?
just one door fails?
all flush checked.?
pull battery neg lug then put back the cut wire properly ,soldered and heat shrink tubing used,
then replace all blown fuses, and put back battery neg lug last?
this car uses a GEM module to direct all that, to windows
and you do not want to blow up any GEM, ok?
lets do fuse related.
F8 maxi fuse 30amp in battery junctionbox. boom
f10 same box same amps and same maxi fuse type.
fuse 10 also blows and all door locks dead too.

so when you short out wires things die
checking fuses is always first. or CB circuit breakers, none here CB.

Changed fuel pump in 02 expedition. When put in gear it stalls and battery keeps going dead. It starts and idles fine, but put in reverse/drive and it dies.

battery keeps going dead , When ? overnight sitting or while driving ? Why did you change the fuel pump ? What engine is in your expedition ? 4.6 L or the 5.4 L . The power door locks are controlled by a module , central security module . Bad input from a door ajar switch or some other input .Also has a GEM - genaric electronic module . Have the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . An don't take it to a auto parts store , they code scanner can not pull body computer codes . Battery is DEAD on 2003 Ford Escape! Door key (using an actual key) unlock is also motorized, which needs battery juice. I can't get into this car! I thought about putting jumper cables on the sta

Open the door manually with the key!

Many Ford Escapes have power door locks as standard equipment. This system consists of a lock switch, lock actuator and wiring harness. When you depress the lock switch, it sends an electronic signal through the harness to the actuator. The actuator moves an internal piston that either pulls the actuator hook down or pushes it up. The actuator hook connects to the lock rod, which either locks or unlocks the door, depending on which way you push the lock button. While this system won't work with a dead battery, the mechanical lock system remains unaffected by electrical power loss.

Insert the door lock key into the driver's door lock.
Turn the key counterclockwise one quarter turn.
Pull the door handle up until the Escape's door opens. Once the driver door is open, simply open the remaining doors by pulling the interior door handles until the doors open.

98 ford expedition will not start. No power to anything, replaced battery, cables, terminals, starter solenoid and a relay.

There is a master fuse in the engine bay on the left side in a box where all the high demand fuses are located.. I would look there. It would be a big size colored twin blade fuse.

1999 ford expedition wont turn over

this sounds easy
now i under stand that your windows and lights are working but let me tell you somethig speciel

if you have a motor in an remote control car it is not running then you go and check it in a torch and it works this is why

a starter motor on a car uses a lot of power and is very high draw (takes alot from the battery)
a light or a power window motor uses less so it can provide the power needed where the starter motor needs more and it can not provide

hope you get what i mean

if i put a motor out of a corsa (1.4, 4 cylinder verry small motor) and put is in a bus it wont move it cause it is too hard
then if i put it in a go cart it will fly
tyr a new battery or see if you can borrow a friends to test it if it starts with a fully charges battery then all you need is a battery if not let me know more and i will do some home work for you
