1996 Nissan Maxima no 2nd gear on auto transmission?

Hi There,

My 96 Nissan Maxima SE seems like it has no 2nd gear. Driving the car normal, medium gas, it goes 1st rev's right over and straight into 3rd like there is no 2nd?, all other gears are working perfect. It just seems to have no 2nd gear. Have been told flushing out the transmission might fix this?.................. any idea's?

Do not flush the trans, that will make it worse.
My friend you have no second gear, you need trans rebuilt.
If you flush it now you can cause more damage.

Hi my car is a nissan maxima 96 went i am driving the breke light and the battery con on and of on the dash board

This is a real warning...I presume the lights come on at idle...and go off as you accelerate...The idle speed could be low...need a tune up...the alternator belt could be slipping, and the battery is not properly charging at idle...Have your alternator checked for free before you are stranded...Many auto parts stores do this test for free...Hope this helps.

The transmission seems to be slipping while driving in the city.Is that actually the transmission or could that be a belt

If you are talking about a automatic transmission your front band needs adjustment. If you are a do it yourself type, It's a matter of loosening a lock nut and backing out the adjusting screw and retorquing it to the proper in/lb..

1996 Corolla Auto Transmission problem

Hi. 2005 Corolla CE. It's normal. They tend to do this when upshifting form 1st to 2nd gear. No timing chain readjustment needed.

96 Corolla. Overdrive not working properly, if not engaging after 45mph constantly. If driving on the city, is normal, but not after 45mph, when the car is trying to engage overdrive in order to save gas and preserve the trans gears. If not able to get help at the dealership, find another one and explain them the situation.
