You cannot remove it unless you replace the airbag. I have the same thing on my drivers airbag. You will still pass inspection with the drivers airbag not working. To get the airbag replace, you are looking at about 3 grand, I just put a dark sticker over my airbag deployed light because I got tired of looking at it The airbag will not cause other problems for you. Just cover up the light and forget about it.
Need to take to manufacturer/dealer and/or a private company to have the airbag replaced. Otherwise you need to cut the airbag out and replace the panel on the airbag (unsafe)
This process would very depending on each car. Check the fuse box for the airbag fuse. Have it removed before disassembling the airbag assembly. For the driver side airbag... remove the cover of the driver's wheel to gain acces to the assembly. In some cases you will have to remove the cover of the steering columns. For the passenger side airbag you need to remove the dashboard to gain access to the assembly.
You need to replace the "entire airbag system";not just the airbag. If you don't know what you're doing you may seriously hurt, yourself. You will need new crash sensors, a new system monitor, and a new airbags. "YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THEM ALL". Messing up the cover is not a issue. If you attempt to do this yourself, disconnect the battery from your vehicle, and do not touch the airbag system for at least 10 minutes. If you don't replace all crash sensors, the system monitor, and "airbags", you may find them blowing in your face for no apparent reason.
