was the cruise control on? [2003 x] this happens to me when I use the cruise control to slow down or accelerate. just setting the cruise for one speed seems to be ok, but if I use the cruise button to change speed, it goes into limp mode rather than downshift correctly. the japanesse transmission was meant to be used, no kid gloves needed. when the pedal is down, the transmission hummms lovely

My 200hp optymax is in limp mode was told that you can by pass it

Limp mode is to keep the engine from causing further damage. It is designed to get you out of traffic and to a repair shop. It is not a great idea to bypass it. You need to find the cause and fix it.

No power over 40 mph

Known as Limp mode.you have to get a garage to run diagnostics in this scenario.it could be anything from fuel ,electrical exhaust and any fault will be stored in the ECU on board .the engine management light usually flashes when cars go into limp mode.
its the yellow icon on dashboard.one time I had an electronic throttle linkage play up every time it rained and a few hard pumps put the car back out of limp mode.your next move is to get it to a garage who can run on board diagnostics to pinpoint the cause via the error codes that show during the tests.limp mode is to protect further damage to engine but allow you to get it yo a garage or home.

VW 2004 T5 MULTIVAN, DIESEL, 2.5, 170PS -- Can't find cause of Limp Mode

You put it in park and turn off and it resets. You turn it on and it runs awhile and zeros out. Try looking at the parking sensors and the on board computer.

04 ram will not shift past 35 mph

it may not be a transmission problem. have you checked for fault codes to make sure it is not in limp mode? limp mode keeps vehicle from accelerating properly because the ECM has put the system at a limited setting to keep the engine running but not to its full potential.

04 vue - power down light comes on... car simply won't accelerate

I don't have the answer my friend BUT, the computer believes there's something wrong so it puts the vehicle into "Limp Home Mode". You say it isn't giving you a code to figure what's wrong but the computer memory will show it. No mistake. That's what it's there for. Take it to an Auto Zone parts and tell them what's going on. They will get the code for you and not charge you for it in hopes THEY will get the job of repairs and parts.
