Reversing lights not work

Reversing lights and reversing park sensors dont work when i select reverse gear on my 53 reg shogun sport 2.5 td manual transmission

  • gazoona Feb 25, 2009

thank you for your solution, we found that if the lights or rear park sensor buzzer don't work you just pull back on the gear stick whilst its in reverse then it will work thus proving the reverse switch on the gear box to be faulty.

once we located the switch it proved difficult to get at due to limited space so it might mean we have to take it to a dealer.

once again thanks for your rapid response

Sounds like it could just be the reverse sensor located on the acctual gearbox under bonnet, you can tell which one it is as it is one of possible two.

HOW DO YOU TURN OFF THE REAR PARK AID?

Page 88 of your owners manual....

Reverse Sensing System (Park assist) (if equipped)
This feature sounds a warning tone to warn the driver of obstacles near
the rear bumper, and functions only when R (Reverse) gear is selected.
1. Select this function from the
SETUP menu to disable the reverse
sensing system feature.
2. Press the RESET control to turn

Where is the reversing switch on a mitshubushi shogun warrior

Hi Jan.
The Reverse light Switch is on the Gear box and if I am not wrong is on the right side between the gear box and the transfer box with wires on. Most common thing on Mitsubishi Shogun the reverse light switch is leaking oil and surely you will find it oil wet.

good luck.

Backup Switch issue.

reverse lights only work when the reverse gear is selected . If a manual box the switch is in the side of the gear box and if auto it will be in the selector section near the park/neutral switches.

My 1993 Trooper's reverse lights don't work. I've checked all the fuses and changed the bulbs out but this was fruitless. Please help.

I had the same Problem with my 1994 Trooper. I was smoking (painting with translucent black paint) my taillights, and when i put the back in, the reverse lights didnt work. In a seemingly unrelated problem, my gearshift indicator strip on the dash would only stay in park. The solution is that there is a sensor that measures gear shift position on the transmission, that relays the power to the reverse lights when reverse is selected. This sensor turned out to be corroded through and the wires surrounding it had corroded from the inside out. I recently got that replaced, and the problem was solved.

When i put my truck into reverse my lights dont work however if i pull my shifter back inbetween reverse and neutral if i get this one spot they come on

There is usually a switch mounted on the transmission. Perhaps it has gotten loose or something is worn or broken. Your gear selection goes park, reverse, neutral and drive. Since the switch is not coming on from park to reverse but it kinda does if you go past reverse (neutral) then it sounds like the switch has moved from its original place. That's why I think it is loose. Good Luck!

Reverse lights on my vauxhal corsa v reg are not working

It`s the reverse light switch under the bonnet had to replace it on my 16v t reg corsa costs about 8-£10 and comes off easily because it`s just a bolt with electricals leading to the back lighting. This happens on every Corsa. Let me guess Your Heater control lights and fan swich lights have gone too on the interior. Any problem corsa related, been there done it.
