300e will not start without starter fluid

if starter turns and engine will not ignite remember it is fuel, electrical or mechanical check the fuel pump relay then fuel pumps the relays do fail after 20 years the pumps rarly fail.
Did you change the fuel filter?
if starter does not turrn start checking

electrical gremlins are challenging but if you are systematic and have a wiring digrahm you will find the problem

you need fuel line disconnect tools without tools you will damage fuel line connectors.

could need tuneup and may want to replace fuel filter....Thing i would do first....i hate starter fluid...really ******* rings in motor.....

starting fluid is a thing of the past. dont use it. this car doesnt have a carb, its a throttle body/ electronic fuel injection system. you most likely have a fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator issue. test the fuel pressure, should be anywheres from 35-50 psi

Starter fluid? if u kept using that starter fluid cleaner, it might damage the rotor winding! Better go to ur garage and have them check it! It might only needs cleaning and lubricating!

The gasoline in it is very likely no longer any good. Put new gas in with an additive designed to remove water and it should turn over.

No, I would say your starter may be going out. Also tune up (coils especially) should be done before any real troubleshooting.

could be the injectors are worn, the fuel is not atomizing. dribbling more than spraying.

need to check your fuel pressure...pump may be running , but not putting out enough pressure

check for spark.....disconnect one of the spark plugs and place a new one in the rubber sleeve.......ground the electrode and have someone turn the car over...look for spark .....
check fuel pump.....have someone under the back of the car when you try to start it.....they should hear the fuel pump cut on and off....OR spray some starting fluid directly into the intake, if it briefly starts, its a fuel issue.....
