1995 Saturn SC door won't open from the outside.

My son locked his keys in the car and while trying to pop the lock with a "slim Jim", popped something loose and the door won't open from the outside. How do I correct this?

You need to take the interor panel off and take a look the latch. the connecting rod from the outside handle to the the lock most likely is the problem.

The drivers side rear door will not open from inside or outside on my 2008 Kia rondo. I suspect that child lock switch has been set. Is there a way to unlock the door since it won't open to reset the child...

You will need to use the key fob .. Click unlock twice and if it is the child lock you will have to pop it open from the outside. Other wise you will have to go to the dealer or possibly a tow company if the lock malfunctioned. They will need to pick it with a slim jim. I would probably use the dealer cause if it is broken on the inside that is going to put you a step ahead.

After using slim jim car door will not open from outside or inside

You probably knocked the door linkage off during the slim jum operation, You will need to remove the inner door panel and re-connect the door handle linkage. Hopefully you did not break the plastic clip.

How do I slim jim into my 2006 chevy colorado with the keys locked inside?

it depends if your door has the antitheft plate, most cars have them now,its just a small metal plate inside the door to stop a slim Jim,if you door has a lock pin you can hook with banding that's the way to get in,but you will need a wedge to open the top of the door just a few mm then take the banding fold it in half and push it in the gap then slide one half forward to open the banding hook the lock pin then close the banding and pop the lock ok.

Locked out of my mustang. Have a slim jim. how does it work?

Lots of things inside your door that a slim Jim can destroy. But basically slide it between the window and the rubber seal at the bottom of the glass. The idea is to hook onto the door lock linkage and pull up or push down. I'd really recommend letting a professional do it with modern lockout tools. Very easy to break stuff with that tool.

Driver side door latch closed shut with door open. Will not open to engage and allow the door to safely close.

Place a large screwdriver in the Latch (on the end of the door), and while lifting your inside or outside door handle (make sure the door's unlocked), move the screwdriver out until the hook re-opens. If this doesn't work, it sounds like the rods and plastic retainers within the door have come loose, which will entail the removing of the door panel. Should it come to that, then in moving the door openers (both inside and out), you will see which rod fell out of what and just snap it into place. Sometimes this occurs when you need assistance with keys locked in car and a "slim-jim" is used to pop the lock...the slim-jim will knock the door linkages off. If this be the case, contact the Wrecker Service that unlocked your car. For future reference, a good Wrecker driver will always go through the front right passenger door for "lock-outs."

Good Luck,

Locked my keys in how do i get them out

Your best bet shy of going to get any other available key is to call "Pop-a-Lock" or something like that. I say that as the damage that can be caused by springing the door trying to get in can be much more expensive. Not to mention the frustration.

Second is to find a friend with a "slim jim" (this is a thin flat piece of metal with cuts made in it so that it can be slid down into the door & hook onto the door linkage & pop the lock by pulling up once hooking it) but even that can damage the linkage or connectors within the door.

But, if you must try yourself, (I have-see needless note below) you may be able to unlock the doors. I've used a coathanger, bent it so that when I stuck it through the edge of the door near the top of the window by prying out cautiously, I was able to get the wire to pry the lock to the Unlock position & open the door. I had to get lucky & it took several attempts to get the hanger bent to where it would "grab". I used flat tip screwdrivers for my wedges.

I also cracked my windshield on that car first as I tried to use the stainless antenna mast which popped off of the lock switch & cracked the windshield-use caution. I then went & got my coathanger.

If that doesn't work, the coathanger can be used as a "slim jim type device, slid between the glass and the weather strip (rubber) with a "J" bend so that you can hopefully grab the bar (similar to the slim jim) that goes to the lock & pull enough on it to use the flex in it to open the lock.

In either instance, it will help if you use something to wedge between the area where you are to insert the hanger. I doubled the hanger when I made the "J" hook for extra strength, the J is small at the end to catch, that's all. There is a bar that runs between the lock switch to the lock on the door & that's what you're trying to hook. You can also try & hook a manual window knob & work it to open the window slowly.

Good luck

Describe your my Mitsubishi endeavor 2004 back door doesn't open Problem

Does this not open from inside or outside or both.
If it opens from the inside and not the outside look at the door opening near the latch. Look for the small lever "child-lock" just move the lever in the oposite direction.
If the door doesn't open from inside or outside I would ask has anyone try to unlock the car using a "slim-jim" if so they may have caused the lock rod to come off the latch on the inside. You'll need to remove the door trim panel and see the the rod has come off. With any luck it will just pop back on if the nothing is broken.

I cant open the drivers door from the inside or the outside

The security guard knocked off the internal door handle and lock linkage, with the slim jim. It will be necessary to remove the door trim and re-attach disconnected linkage(s). Easier to remove trim with glass down, then repair with glass up
