Firstly jack car up and put stands under it then remove the belly plate then stop for tea and ciggy, next is a union meeting to discuss length of tea break. Now after a good old fashioned strike over length of tea brake then accepting a pay rise as well just for good measure you then go back under the car and have a good look-Now safety is of paramount importance here so you disconnect the battery any lead will suffice. Now having done your work you proceed to flirt with the secretary who of course wouldnt be seen dead with a greasy rag with dirt under the nails. Now back to work after visiting the boys room with your newspaper and with the battery disconnected you look up and remove the cables on the back of the starter solonoid ,now proceed to remove the three bolts holding the starter motor in but you may find that you will need to remove a support bracket thet holds the exhaust downpipe to gain access to the three start motor retaining bolts. After sucessfully removing the said start motor you take the job sheet to the stores as the job sheet will have the chassis number on it and give it to the storeman after queueing up for a hour and a half as all the favourite fitters have two apprentices with one permantly in the queue for the stores.Well eventually your in the front of the queue and guess what the part you require is not kept in stock as no dealers keep stock anymore so its at least a 3 day wait for a starter motorNow this vehicle must go out today so you strip the starter motor and put some old carbon brushes into it from another old unit then you paint it black and refit it and put down on the job sheet what you have done .Receptionist re writes job sheet and charges for a new one and wangles the cash into his pocket.Meanwhile you go back and get another job sheet another duff job as the blue eyed boys get the best jobs like the first services or pre delivery inspections ,yes the secretary will only go out with the so called director whos only their because his granny bought a share in the company so the useless so and so could get a job where he wears a suit and gets a company car .Nothing like a good story is their now work out how much is true

You sure you have the skills or tools to do that?

Starters only have 2 or 3 bolts to remove

Maybe you can get a picture with Google or
watch a You Tube Video on that

SOURCE: Replacing the battery in a 1999 Lexus LX470

There are a few thing's, one thing is to not accidentally touch the positive terminal with the negative battery cable or touch the negative terminal with the positive battery cable when your removing or installing the battery, if one of the cable's do touch the other post it may blow some fuse's, on some vehicles with radio anti theft systems when you remove the battery the radio will lock out, if you don't have the code you'll have to take it to a service dealer to have them reset it, other than that it's pretty much straight forward. good luck.

SOURCE: how do i install a new headlight assembly on a

Simply remove the plastic cover over the headlights and radiator. This is easy to remove by removing the plastic clips. On the headlamp assembly, there are three bolts that need to removed, two under the plastic cover and one at the top of the fender. Once this is done, gently pull it out, it will tend to hold onto the fender as it is grooved to do this...then reverse the steps to reinstall the headlight assembly

Wen ur tryn to change a starter from a 1991 lexus 400 were do u find the starter in ur car?

Depending on the engine it may be in the lifter valley. I had an early 90s Lexus in a few months ago that needed a starter. It had a v8 that had the starter located under the intake manifold. Turned out to be a 6 hour job. If you end up replacing the starter, be sure to get a starter directly from Lexus. It's not worth the chancing it with an aftermarket rebuilt starter.

Want to know when the timing belt/chain needs to be replaced for 1999 Lexus LX470?

reccomended every 80k going past 120k is really pushing it. if it breaks while running, it'll damage the engine internally by the pistons hitting the valves. if its original get it done, thats alot of age for a rubber belt to be in svc. too

Lexus lx470 1999 Starter

Look at the "rear" of the engine where it joins the transmission. Follow the positive cable from the battery to it. Cog with the 'teeth' you see engages the flywheel to start the motor.
