2001 Town and Country Lock and Unlock is Going Haywire on its Own
Our '01 T&C Limited is possessed!
First things first, remote won't do anything - - won't lock or unlock, won't set off panic, won't open any doors. Batteries have been changed, and still nothing (second remote that came with van was lost and never found, so we only have the one).
On occasion (and starting to happen more regularly) the van will just keep unlocking itself, driver side turn signal will flash, then passenger side, 10 sec's later same thing. This keeps up for sometimes up to 30 minutes.
Had in to local Goodyear for service (going there for 5 years, good techs reco'd as some of the best around by retired Napa Reg'l Mgr that is friend of family) and just my luck they couldn't get it to replicate the problem.
Other problems that may help solve: Lock with door button, and then unlock manually with key (not valet key) and the alarm goes off; and three weeks ago, passenger side door would open with overhead console button but not with interior button by the door itself - - now three weeks later both interior buttons open and close side door.
ARGGHHH! Like I said, POSSESSED!! Can anyone help? Thanks.
the body controller is at fault it may need the software update from the dealer... one thing you can do is disconnect the battery for about 5 minutes then when you reconnect it... the fob will work again...

There is a 2 wire switch that goes on the backside of your door lock cylinder. Prob got knocked off when u were in there. Till u can look just unlock the pass door or the lift gate with key and that will shut alarm off
ATTENTION:You MUST HAVE one working remote to add one more to the system. 1. Press LOCK button 5 times at 2 second intervals to resynchronize remote. 2. Insert key into the ignition switch. Turn ignition to the RUN position (as far as you can go without cranking engine). Wait for ignition chimes to stop.
3. Using the working remote, press and hold the UNLOCK button on the remote for 4 to 10 seconds. 4. Within the specified 4 to 10 seconds, continue pressing the UNLOCK button and then press the PANIC button ( on the programmed remote ) for 1 second and release both buttons. A chime will sound to indicate that the remote programming mode has been entered ( allow 3 seconds for chime to sound ). 5. Within 30 seconds of the chime, press and release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously then press and release just the UNLOCK button on the same remote. A chime will sound indicating the remote has been programmed. Press and release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously and then press the UNLOCK button on each new remote you wish to program at this time. A chime will sound afer each additional remote is programmed. 6. Turn the ignition OFF and remove key. 7. Test Remotes.
First, check that you're child safety lock isn't set for that door...If thats not possible then the next culprit might be the alarm FOB battery. IF, its an aftermarket alarm FOB you're in luck...changing the batt should do it...If it IS a factory alarm FOB, you have TWO choices...get a new aftermarket keyless entry system $89-129...or go to the dealer for reprogramming the remote, about $89. Good Luck
