I have a 1998 GMC Jimmy, put a different engine from a 1996 gmc jimmy in it, its been running great and here about 2 weeks ago it started giving me problems, I put the key into the ignition turn it to start all the dash lights lights, light for just a second and then off again, wont enguage the starter, and the head lights wont turn on just the marker lights come fuel pump runs and everything else seems fine, when it does start and run i can hear the turn signal indcator clicking behinde the glove box and al the dash lights turn on and off any assistance would be helpful thank you..

Starter or ingition switch problem. Let me guess, you live in a cold region? If yes, then I'm betting money on the starter. The cold does a number on starters. The colder it gets the more likely they go out. Lol, happened to my friends truck Tuesday and mine this morning. That's what we get for living in -10 degree weather right?

chek filters for fuel on frame and in tank

SOURCE: turn key can hear fuel

prior to starting it,, do you hear the pump stop? if not you have a faulty pump, or you have a leak someplace in the line itself, Once your line pressures up,, It should stay that way, even when off for periods of time,, check the pressure at the end of the line away from the gas tank, it should remain constant
