SOURCE: Can you remove an inertia fuel cutoff switch on a 06 ranger?

Who cares if it is a safety system? my 05 won't even make it out of the driveway without the thing going off and killing my truck. All because I hit a pothole. If you know how, please tell us. I took it into the shop and the mechanic got 2 new switches from Ford and neither one fit. So either I am going to have spend another $1000 dollars because you have a moral stick up your you know what, or you could help us out.

SOURCE: Have a 2003 Suzuki XL-7 involved in an accident.

I don't know the Suzuki but hopefully I can point you to where most vehicles put the switch so you can get rolling again......

Inside the back near the hatch on either side you should have removable panels. Check inside both of them and hopefully you will see it. On most vehicles it is on the passenger side.

Good luck!

1994 GMC Topkick not getting power from the fuel pump. Where is the fuel pump relay located?

Before going there, check your INERTIA SWITCH (INTERTIAL CUTOFF SWITCH). A small accident or a sharp bump can cause the cutoff switch to trip. The switch is located adjacent to the passenger side rear shock tower, and there is a pushbutton to reset (on most Topkick tucks). Carbureted Topkick trucks do not have cutoff switches, and some custom trucks have the inertia switch relocated.

2005 JAGUAR S TYPE TURNS OVER BUT WONT START AFTER ACCIDENT DOES IT HAVE FUEL CUTOFF SWITCH AND WHERE IS IT LOCATED

You likely tripped the Fuel Shut-Off Inertia Switch.
The inertia switch is located behind the trim on the right-hand
side of the vehicle, forward of the front door post, below the
fascia. Pull open the small panel in the trim to reset the switch.
Resetting the switch
CAUTION !!!:
To avoid the possibility of fire or personal injury, do not
reset the inertia switch if you see or smell fuel.
If no fuel leak is apparent, reset the inertia switch as follows:
Press the button!
If the switch was activated by the accident, you should feel it "click" when you reset it by pushing it.

Happy Motoring!

How do i reset my 1999 mustang fuel pump?

Reset your fuel pump? If you mean the inertia switch, all you have to do is push the button on the inertia switch to reset it. It is located in the lower left rear corner of the trunk.

Please note that if your fuel pump is not working, it is NOT the inertia switch unless you have been involved in an accident, or slammed something (like a curb or a HUGE pothole) pretty hard recently. If this is what happened, the engine would have died IMMEDIATELY after such an accident.

I TRY TO DRIVE MY CAR GET S TO 3RD GEAR AND WONT GO TO 4TH, DIAGNOSTIC P1642?????

DTC P1642 is for a loss in CAN communication. You will need to read the codes from the other modules to see which one is the culprit. From your description is does sound like the CAN network went down. It may be a problem with the inertia switch. It may have partially tripped causing this problem.

See your owner manual for the location of your inertia fuel cutoff switch. It cuts off power to the fuel pump in an accident.

CAN is the communication network where all teh computers in your car talk to one another. There appears to be a problem intermittently here.

Is there a way to remove inertia fuel cutoff on a ranger?

It is an inertia switch, meaning that it works when there is a sudden change in inertia. The switch is closed by default and opens in an accident or rollover. You can easily remove this safety feature from your system by simply unhooking the connector and jumping across the 2 terminals with a piece of wire. But I strongly advise against this. This is a $50 dealer part that is easily replaced if it is bad. It is a great safety feature that may save your life.
