2006 HYUNDAI TUCSON BATTERY DIES EVERY NIGHT!

BATTERY DIES OR GETS VERY WEAK AFTER ABOUT 12-15, SOMETIMES EVEN SOONER! I TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP AND THEY DID THE ELECTRICAL TEST TO SEE WHAT WAS DRAINING THE BATTERY. THEY SAID WITHOUT A DOUBT THAT IT WAS THE STEREO. I THEN REPLACED THE STEREO. AS SOON AS I DID THAT, MY CAR STARTED UP STRONG FOR THE NEXT 5 DAYS. ON DAY 6, I COULD TELL THAT MY BATTER WAS GETTING WEAK AGAIN. THE NEXT 3 DAYS IT KEPT GETTING WEAKER AND THEN BARELY STARTED. IM NOT BACK TO MY NIGHTLY ROUTINE OF CONNECTING THE BATTERY UP TO A CHARGER EACH NIGHT. MY BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR BOTH TEST GOOD. I JUST HAD MY TUNE UP DONE. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THEY HAVE CHECKED OUT EVERY LITTLE THING AND THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IS DRAINING MY BATTERY. **BEFORE I SWITCHED OUT THE STEREO = DIED/WEAKED EVERY NIGHT. **AFTER I SWITCHED THE STEREO = JUST WEAKED MORE AND MORE EACH DAY UNTIL IT FINALLY DIES AFTER A FEW DAYS. (SOUNDS LIKE THE ALTERNATOR RIGHT?! BUT THEY SAY IT IS DEFINANTLY NOT!) HELP ME HELP ME!

..i meant to say that it was dying every 12-15hrs or sooner. i also meant to say that i am now back to plugging my battery in each night. im hoping that someone else has had a similar issue like this and nows of another possibilty that is draining the battery. something that isn't showing up when they run the test.

Try checking trunk light I serviced a lot of draining battery problems . I had one the other day the customer states every 4 days need jump start . 1st step ck charging system ok , starter draw was good . started to ck all drains all were normal . after dealing with this issue for a month i replaced his battery with a new one he never came back . calls me for reg service . A week cell in battery can pass the test . Hope this helps .

thank you for responding! ..i have checked to make sure that all the lights are not left on - including the back truck light, which i keep in the off position just to be sure that it's not the light being left on. i've had this battery issue for about 2 1/2 yrs so i really feel like i've looked into every little thing. i dont know what else to check. i'm stumped :(

the battery that is currently in the car is a 2010. 2010 is when i started having these battery issues and i switched out the batteries several times, and ended up getting this one new back in 2010. all shops assure me that the battery is not the issue, that it is something draining the good battery ...?

  • Jonah Oneal Mar 14, 2013

sound like it could be diode in alternator failing it keeps battery from draining through the alternator.

  • Anonymous Mar 15, 2013

if that is bad in the alternator, would the alternator still pass the tests as good? i've had it tested at a few different places and they all say that it tests good.

SOURCE: Battery keeps dieing..jump start and runs for a few days and dies

Humm ...Didn't die before the accident? now dies? BMW has good mechanics, but could not find any problem???. I gota think that it is related to the rear ending, but how? I would look for loose connections, Battery Ground that might have been removed before welding.Battery terminals, Any primary connections that may not be making 100% contact . It's worth a try.Good Luck

SOURCE: 97' nissan pick-up started dying while driving air

This is just a suggestion that may fit the symptoms. It sounds like you are not getting fuel at times which could mean that your fuel pump is supplying fuel, but your in line fuel filter is getting clogged and not letting fuel pass to the injectors. The fuel that has mandated alcohol in it is highly hydroscopic and picks up a lot of water that ends up in your tank and mixes with the rust that it causes on the steel tank. That gunk is sucked up by the pump and under pressure blocks your fuel filter after a while, and is so impacted that it cuts off the fuel flow stalling the engine. If you let it sit for a while, then the impacted debris settles down in the bottom half of the filter allowing the fuel to flow, but under pressure it builds up at the exit port again. It could be as simple as changing the fuel filter.

Sounds like a dead battery and possibly a malfunctioning charging system to me. Trust me, I have seen weirder tings happen as the result of a shorted cell in a battery. It needs to be tested with a battery tester that can test the impedance of the battery cells. Please note that an old-fashioned battery "carbon pile" load tester cannot do this.

I have even seen engines that would crank normally and not start because the shorted cell was giving reverse polarity feedback to the computer system during cranking. Just because your lights are coming on, does not mean that your battery is in good condition or that it is fully charged.

I have also seen many Engine Control Modules and Body Control Modules replaced by mechanics that failed to properly test the charging system before making such a judgement. Module failures do happen, but they are RARE.

Why does my 2006 hyundai tucson start acting like its vapor locked when the gas tank hits half and what is the noise im hearing that sounds like it needs a lube job?

When it starts to act up, take off the fuel cap and see what happens. Check the computer to see if there are any codes. Possible weak fuel pump. Check pressure with a gauge. Check fuel filter. Squeak noises are common. Look for the area the noise comes from and isolate the squeak.

High fuel pressure, or a partially clogged catalytic converter. Does it make good power, or does it seem weak when you depress the accelerator?

Rear windshiled washer fluid doesn't work

It is important to always use washer fluid designed for cold weather. Even if you refill in warm months use the washer fluid with the antifreeze protection since you may not use the rear window cleaner enough to flush out all of the summer washer fluid.
