C190 is a 2.0 L OHV 8V engine same as marine 4AA1.
when warm did you try diesel test fuel?
runs now , right, or runs and stalls. right?
that be the biggest clue there.
besides black smoke.
lost compression hot.
or lost fueling hot.
simple test for compression and test fuel....... leaving what?
Does the engine crank okay when warm and you try to restart? If you give it a little bit of gas when warm will it start? My guess if there are no check engine lights on would be a failing gas pressure regulator.
Sounds like vapor lock. In laymans terms the engine heat causes the fuel flow to stop. Once everything cools off the truck starts. Insulating around the fuel line seems to be the solution. Try aluminum foil. Or perhaps a reroute of the fuel line to get it away from direct engine heat.
flooded engine common problem remove all plugs and fuel pump fuse. get fuel out of engine do not istall fuel pump fuse re install all plugs I suggest a good charger be used as system can kill batt very quick run to wires from fuel pump fuse into seating area start cranking the engine over wires not touching once compression sounds alright touch wires to geather (may have to repeat these deflooding wire touching procedure many times) once started do not turn off car till normal operating temp . Once hot turn car off remove wires and re install fuel pump fuse .With RX-8 u cannot just start and stop car right away as in washing car as it can produce this same condition ALWAYS let car warm up before turning off.
The starter is most likely bad and needs to be replaced, either the solenoid or motor are binding when it heats up and the parts expand,I can't pinpoint the exact cause because you haven't indicated if you hear the solenoid click wwhen you try to start it warm.I realize the starter has been replaced, but with a remanufactured unit they are not tested when they are warm and a bad unit will pass and be rebuilt.
