2007 chevrolet equinox transmission slipping

Transmission is lagging when shifting to second gear. Should I have it fixed?

Odd question

You have a vehicle barely 6 years old with
a failed transmission & now can not use it at all

Once they slip your done
Has to be rebuilt

Did you not change the fluid ever 3 years?

That may cost you $3500 verse $80 for a fluid
change 3 years ago & again now

Can't change it now it slips,it will get worst

I'm sorry. Your answer is not clear. First of all, Chevrolet doesn't recommend a transmission fluid change on that vehicle unless a problem I was told by several mechanics and then debris can break loose and cause clogging. I have been told by several friends that are so mechanics to let it be and it may mot get worse. It is drive able. I don't know where you got that. It's a slight slippage between 1 & 2. Other than that, it's fine. I wanted other opinions on what to do, if anyone else has has this trouble and if so, what's the diagnosis and cost.

No such thing on not changing fluid or what a dealer mechanic may have told yo u I used to own a transmission shop & did work for a cadillac dealer How do you disregard the laws of physics & technology when it comes to changing fluids It is your transmission to ruin if you like There are millions of people who believe all they hear on TV & are told by dealerships There are no sealed transmissions but people think there are There is no motor that can go 100,000 miles on spark plugs but people ruin them every day doing so What your referring to is not flushing a trans as debris could get into the solenoids I wouldn't even be at a dealer let alone listen to them You need to read the horror stories on here every week from dealers experiences The people come here weekly by the thousands because nothing is resolved at dealers or repair shops then we should guess That is not possible without the vehicle

Transmission Shop was what I owned SLIPPING is NOT fixable You need to not listen to people but educate yourself using google or you tube video or the internet in general

First of all, when I commented about " I don't know where you got that" I was referring to your comment " now cannot use it at all" I never said that. Secondly, you are being very rude and obnoxious. I'm telling you what other advice I have received. why do you think I'm here? Because I'm not sure what is correct. not having it changed is water under the bridge. Can't change that now. I received bad advice if you are correct. These other mechanics have also been in business a long time. Third, just "googling" something doesn't make it so. Do you believe everything you read on the Internet? so, I'm wanting to know from anyone that's also had the slippage , what the cost was for this vehicle to have repaired in their case for a ball park if what I may be looking at. Plus if anyone has found any info on GM helping out on this problem. Forth, it seems so many people feel the need to be nasty when they are not face to face. There's no need for the attitude.

When you own a transmission shop you are asked to ballpark a price 10 times to your face when your tying to explain things to a customer No no in the auto trade will ball park or guess I would only guess as I have not been in the business for some years You need to go to a shop to ask price questions When I left a trans repair seldom got to $2000. My understanding now is that is a $3000 to $4500 repair Not to be nasty I deal with people here & in person my whole life that know nothing about vehicles or any product. People want lipstick & nice conversations not be told the mechanical truth because they have no knowledge of what your trying to explain Actually your wrong again I have Google & other sites as part of my professional vehicle scan tool software programs Without reference material you can't work on or diagnose what you know nothing about

Again, I was wanting to hear from someone that may be having or had the same problem and what it costs them etc on this model. I understand more than you think sir. I don't appreciate the attitude and yes you are talking down to me. maybe a little more "bed side manner" is needed for you to reply here. The shops will not like dealing with you, if you start asking price questions & fail to realize that the trans slips All you have to do is drive it ten miles like that to ruin it You not the first person to have trans problem on the same vehicle I spent year listening to your every word dealing with the public As much as you don't need me to annoy you You want price,other people with problems & what they did All that is silly Have you not even gone for a road test at a shop

Price comes after the trans is out & apart & you know what is wrong For the most part this site serves no one well as they know nothing or cant work on their own vehicles If I ask you a question about your area of expertise can you guess over the internet don't think so

SOURCE: My shift lever has an "I" on it before the letter "D" for Drive. What is "I" for???? When do you drive in that "gear"

PRNDIL

D is obviously Drive
I is Intermediate usually 4th and 3rd on a 5 Speed
L is Low usually 2nd and 1st when I is present

It is best to flush the fluid this gets the fluid out of the torque converter.This transmission uses special fluid tpye t-Iv gm # 88900925 do not use dexron fluid in this transmission.

My equinox jumps 1500 rpm from second to third could this be the # 3 cello noida it's almost like it slips but only at the shift

Could be a lazy solenoid, or a leaky seal in the apply circuit of that clutch pack. I would try a trans. service first in case it's just a buildup of crud making the shift slow. Do yourself a favor and take it to a shop with a flush machine rather than just changing fluid/filter as the machine will get the torque converter and valve body.

Automatic transmission will not engage gear

Sounds like the transmission is gone .Check the fluid level ,and sometimes the filters inside the transmission gets clogged up.have it checked by a qualified transmission mechanic.

The shifter needs to be inspected. If The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities.
