I am trying to replace the serpentine belt on a 2001 Chevy Tracker and I need a detailed diagram to tell me how to identify the tention wheel and what I need to do in order to release the tention wheel and...

The ventures serpentine belt can be removed and replaced by releasing pressure on the tensioner. Just take your large socket wrench and insert the square head into the square slot on the tensioner and use it to release tension on the belt.

Hi when are you supose to change the serpentine belt on a 2001 Saturn SC2? My SC2 has almost 51,000 miles on it with the orginal belt? Thanks,

The manufacture recommends a serpentine belt replacement every 50,000 miles. However, your serpentine belt should be inspected often for cracks, rips or warping. This can also tell you if you have a pulley that is malfunctioning. Also when you have your serpentine belt off spin your pulleys and make sure they spin free with no hang ups. If you get a hangup you may need to replace that pulley. If you want to replace the serpentine belt yourself here are the steps you take to replace it. This will save you around $50 in labor charges.
  1. You will need a 15mm wrench.
  2. Next you will want to make a diagram of the position of the belt in relation to each pulley. This is important because the belt only goes on one way.
  3. Put the wrench on on the tension pulley
  4. Pull the wrench towards the car releasing the tension on the belt
  5. Slide the belt off
  6. Slowly let the tension pulley release to it's start position
  7. Get the old belt and new belt and compare the two in size, and the amount of groves they have. The belts should be an exact match with the exception that the old belt may be minutely longer from being stretched during use.
  8. Set the new belt on a few pulleys per your diagram
  9. Now get the wrench again and place it on the tension pulley and pull towards the car placing the rest of the belt on the pulleys exactly as the diagram says.
  10. Release the tension pulley gently.
  11. Now you want to inspect how the belt is laying on the pulleys. Make sure the belt is on nice and even and exactly as the diagram says.
  12. Providing all is well to this point turn your car on and go inspect the belt with the engine running and make sure it is staying on the pulleys as it should.
  13. That should be it. 15 minutes and you saved $50. I will upload a diagram for your Car and engine as well.

2001 Saturn, need a Serpentine belt diagram

get a floor jack and a small block of wood. place the floor jack under the oil pan. jack up the jack until you feel it on the oil pan. remove the engine mount. you will need a deep 15mm socket and a 6inch extension. the mount has 4 bolts. remove it. then jack the engine up with the floor jack until the power steering reservoir almost touches the cowl. now take a long 14mm wrench and place that on the bolt head on the belt tensioner. pull the wrench until the belt slacks up. remove the belt. Installation opposite of removal. Here is a belt diagram. I hope this helps!! If you have any problems or questions e-mail me at: [email protected]

2001 SATURN SL1 BELT

You'll need a 14mm socket wrench.

Locate the belt tensioner pulley. It's the one closest to the alternator and the only one that comes in contact with the back surface of the belt.

Fit the socket on to the bolt on the pulley.
Try to turn it clockwise.
This should swing the pulley down and loosen the belt,
Slide the belt off one of the other pulleys.
When it's clear, release the tensioner, remove the belt.

Same deal in reverse to replace the belt.

Here's a diagram

Hope this helps
