My 2001 volvo car radio is displaying OFF on the display screen. Before now, it requested for input code but a wrong code was inputted and now it displayed OFF. how can i regain the use of my radio
I would try removing either the two fuses for the radio or disconnecting the ground on the battery for a while. When you start the car it should rest from "OFF" to "CDE" and you will be able to enter code again
I had the same problem with my 01 volvo s40 after it was dead for a pretty long time due to an accident. I put in the 4 digit code then the radio had to stay on for 2 hours with that code on there then at exactly 2 hours it shut on....hope that helps

Turn the key in the ignition so that the radio will come on, leave the radio switched on for 2.5 to 3hrs.
After this time it should be requesting the security code again
Input your code; if you don't have it -call the local Volvo dealer (have your chassis / VIN identification number and the registration plate number to hand , they may need it)
Tell the dealer your stereo is requesting a code you don't have ...
Do not pay any money..they all have it on a data base ..so if they ask for money hang up and call another !
anyway, get your code input it and voila ..music again, ah sweet music, I've just beenwithout music in my Volvo for a month and just found all the above out, sawthis question and just had to answer.
cheers
You need to leave the key in the ignition in position I (accessory) for two hours, after that it will say code and you can input the code. The radio switches to "OFF" after three failed attempts with the wrong code. If you dont have the code call the dealership with your VIN and they can give it to you.
If the display says "Off" the radio is locked from incorrect code input.
You need to leave the key in the accessory position with the radio on (display reads 'Off') for about two hours. After that it should ask for he code again. You have three tries before it locks again. Some radios are different, but typically you use the knob to adjust the numbers, push the knob in to move to the next number
Well, it might seem obvious but you need to input the code which on my Volvo 850 is a four digit number. I'm assuming this is a used car, so you need to get the code from the previous owner, or if this is not possible, contact the manufacturer directly to see if they can help you. Good luck.
