If you have all the right tools/jack stands/parts, you are comfortable working on vehicles and this is your first time you can plan on about 4 or 5 hours. Your second one will take you about 2.
No, not at all. The timming belt, or may be a chain on that vehichle? Not sure. But it is under a cover on the front of motor and you have to take everything off of front to even get to it.
The serpentine belt just runs the a/c, alternator, water pump, and powersteering pump.
If you have the 5sfe 2.2 L engine, the water pump is in-line with the camshaft timing belt and is under a two piece plastic cover behind your alternator/powersteering/crankshaft pulley belts. Rule of thumb is to always change timing belt with the water pump. It's so much work to get to it, you might as well do both at the same time. You'll avoid having to go through all that twice if the belt slips or breaks later. Need advice on what to do exactly step by step? ask me directly. I'll tell you if I know.
If the pump was fitted wrong it may have air in the pipes, it might need bleeding through, alternatively the fault could be the power steering rack and not the pump.
The alternator is below the powersteer pump. You will need to remove the fanbelts, and then remove the powersteer pump.
Once the pump is off you will have easier access to the alternator.
Remember you must disconnect the negative terminal on the battery before you commence any work.
Remove all the wiring from the alternator and then remove the top and bottom bolts and it should come out quite easily then.
That means the fanbelt on the alternator is not tight enough or needs to be changed, if the belt on powersteering goes via A/C than it might be too tight on the powersteering pulley.
two things you can do.one buy a plate for pulley from dealer put it on. second remove the bracket support from power steering and push the pump towards driver side and put the bracket back on should solve the problem.
