Vibration when driving. feels if coming from the shaft underneath

As soon as start to drive I feel some hesitation and a noise as if something is stuck somewhere. I think it comes from a U Joint between the two shafts underneath. Anyone with any suggestions

SOURCE: 2004 ford f150 4x2 4.6 drive shaft has vibration

check the U-joints by grabbing the drive shaft and try to make it move from side to side or top to bottom. It is much easier to do this if the vehicle is in the air and no weight on the axle.If it does move replace that U-joint,but if you are going to replace one then I would do both since you will have the drive shaft out any way. Also check to see if the shaft weight is still there, but I doubt it has came off its pretty rare.

Hello, I noticed one thing in your statement about the noise easing off at 40MPH. Thats about the time your overdrive kicks in and the engine RPM drops down. With the other noises like tire and wind noise increasing above 40MPH it could mask the remaining noise from the drivetrain. And like you said, a seat of the pants vibration remains.

When you said you checked the U-joints on the driveshafts, did you remove the front driveshaft to do it? If you were to remove the front driveshaft you could also tell whether the problem includes the front Differential by driving the truck without the front driveshaft. I have had a few clients with seized front U-joints which did not reveal themselves until the shaft was dropped.

Sometimes its the simple things that bite you. Did you check the Lube in the axles and Transfer case? A stuck Servo in the Transfer case could occur. As I understand, the newer types use Resistors in the Selector switch and feed into a single wire to the servo. You might disconnect the wire and check for 3 distinct Voltages as the Selector is turned. It could be this whole problem is Electrical instead of mechanical.

I do not have the Electric values for your Selector, but the F150 forum and the FourWheeling forums have good information and online help. A simple Web search for these numbers will turn them up, that is where I came across them on a Web search for a problem.

I hope my solutions will be helpful to you and I would like to know the outcome on your problem. I may be able to help someone else later on.

It very well could be the strut.
smaller chance could be the CV axle.
Also have the splash guards/heat shields checked to make sure they are all tight in place.

Vibration coming from front axle when coming to a stop it gets worse, brakes are good , maybe cv joint?

if you feel the pulsation in brake pedal when stopping. its a warped brake rotor thats causing it. for bad cv joint symtoms--- Unusual noises when making turns. As you are driving on the road and you make a turn at the corner, if you start hearing unusual sounds coming from under the car then this is one of the symptoms of a bad CV joint. These noises will sound like something is clicking beneath the car every time you turn the steering wheel. Evidence of a damaged boot. Steering wheel feels heavier. The steering wheel will start to feel tighter and heavier and you can hardly make simple turns to the left or right. In severe cases you might even feel heavy vibrations like you are driving down a rocky road.

The vehicle dont make any noise till you start picking up speed, hear a little vibration but dont feel any, looked under vehicle and where the drive shaft connects to the transmission in the back seems to...

Sounds like a wheel bearing issue. You need to take it to your local friendly mechanic so they can put it on the lift and find out which one it is. Good luck

05 camry SE 2.4L. while driving i feel a vibration under my feet.

Without feeling the vibration, it is hard to speculate, but, my experience here is this: you may have a bad rear wheel bearing. It is covered for 5 years/60,000 miles by Toyota

Vibration and noise coming from front end.

Try this . Find an empty stretch of road . Accelerate teh vehicle to 30 mph ,while you switch the transmission INTO NEUTRAL, making sure there are no other vehicles in or behind your path. Listen and feel for your problem. Still feel it ? I would raise the vehicle in the air, and inspect ALL 4 TIRES for OUT OF ROUNDNESS. Cupping will not only cause a vibration, but also a noise. Hope this helps.
