Parking break light is always on (1994 Toyota Previa)
The parking light always stays on, eventhough the break is fully released. This also prevents the cruise control from working. Where is the switch for the parking break?
Thanks for the help. I found the switch. However, I don't think that was the problem. When I disconnect the connector from the switch, the brake light on the dash remains on. Other than a pinched wire, what else could cause the light to remain on?Thanks for the help. I found the switch. However, I don't think that was the problem. Hi. The noise id definitely coming from your parking brake. You will need to break down both sides and inspect everything. There is more than one reason to cause this failure. Check the shoes, are they in good condition ( check that the pad material isn't separating from the backing plate)? Are the springs attached and in good condition? Ask a person for help. Have a friend engage the parking brake and release. You will check the shoes and see if they have fully returned. If they don't you must determine if the failure is related to a cable or seized lever against the shoe. Take your time or you may spend more money than you need to. Please let me know if there is anything else. Good Luck.
sounds like the parking brake arm is not returning to the fully off position. try pull the release handle and at the same time pull up on the lever. if the light goes out then its not fully returning. it could be out of adjustment or the brake cables or sticking and need to be freed up.
tail is park, so turn off the parking lights ,.there are 20+ lamps
inside and out for park/tail/dim dash lamps.
do you mean stop lights stuck on, id bet so. (parks out)
so replace or adjust the brake lamp switch.
see alldata.com for full facts on topic.
First when this brake light stays on...it means there IS a problem. Could be just that the brake fluid in the master cylinder is low...easy to check...Is the brake pedal working differently now? Is the parking brale fully released? If none of the above...provide more info on other brake function symptoms...:)
Apply the parking brake with the vehicle parked, engine turned off and transmission in Park. Release the parking brake completely, then apply it again, and ensure that it is fully released. Turn the ignition on, check to see if the Parking brake warning light is on. If it is NOT on, apply the parking brake and check to see if the warning light comes on. If the light come ON wihen the Parking brake is applied,.....fully release the parking brake and check if the warning light goes OFF. If it does NOT go off, then an adjustment is needed at the parking brake switch.
The module reads the bulb amperages, so the bulbs must be the right ones for the car. Pay close attention to the third light and its brightness....921 I believe
the cables that go to the rear wheels, one or both are damaged try spraying them with some king of lubricant solvent CRC, WD40, SEAFOAM works best. this should help to release cable, the replace cable, DO NOT DISSCONNECT EMERGECY BRAKE!!!!will not pass inspection
