Have your power train control module (PCM) checked out by a dealership it controls your fuel injection system, emissions, timing. this part troubles many jeeps. and it is real hard to pin point out what the main problem is. i replaced a lot of parts on my jeep then i replaced the pcm and mine has ran great so far. (fingers crossed)
Its vapor locking try losing the gas cap a little and then drive it around if that works replace it or lust leave it lose

i am having the same problem some days my jeep is fine and wont die at all. it mainly stops running at stops or if i am coasting down the roador down a hill somtimes it starts right back up and sometimes it is real hard to start replaced several parts corresponding to the ignition failure code i found when i checked it out at the shop no luck. tried the clothes pin on the fuel line to see about vapor lock that hasnt helped either not tried new gas cap yet. begining to think it is my pcm and if not that my transmission hope it is not any of those
our 1997 jeep cherokee has a similar problem, starts, runs, dies. Hard to start again unless we pump the accelerator. Loosening the gas cap had no effect.
1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee I started it with no problem and drove about two kms from my home to a red light when I came to a complete stop it just shut off. I tried to start it again but had to give it gas when i put on the break to put it in drive it just shut off again as if I was not getting enough gas. So I started and shifted it into gear with my foot on gas and break and drove it fine for a few days. A few days later it happend again. I am not A mechanic so I changed the only thing I knew how and that was the altinator and by some stroke of luck that was my problem. I hope this realates to your problem and is of some help.
