"Door Ajar" signal on dash panel stays on even when doors are clo
I have a 2005 Pontiac G6 that when you get in the car and start the car and go to drive, the Door Ajar signal on the dash panel beeps that a door is ajar. All the doors are closed though and also it doesn't lock my locks automatically anymore when I drive like I use to now. When I hit the lock button in the car it locks all the locks but the drivers side. What could be the problem?
I also have just experienced the same problem, the door ajar light came on even though the doors were all shut, opened and closed all to be sure someone didnt fully close one of the doors. The interior light comes on as well, after opening and closing the door the light initially goes out only to come back on again, after repeated atempts to keep it off I was forced to turn the dome light off manually. The car is a 2008 model, only 9 months old, I'm a bit disapointed to have trouble this early. Back to the dealership I go..
Thanks for the help Chris, you were correct, it was a broken door latch on the front passenger side, thankfully it won't cost me anything because it's still under warranty. I did a lot of reseach and this seems to be a common problem for the 2005 g6. Sadly GM haven't learned thier lesson and are still using inferior parts on thier cars, tisk tisk.. I'm not one bit sad the big 3 are nearing bankruptcy, if they built quality cars at an affordable price they wouldn't be in this mess. Thanks for the help Chris, you were correct, it was a broken door latch on the front passenger side, thankfully it won't cost me anything because it's still under warranty. Re: "Door Ajar" signal on dash panel stays on even when...
There should be a switch mounted( or more than one) in the door jamb that tells the car when the car door is open...i will probably look like a little plastic plunger...might be broken off or bad internally

It should tell you which one .
Driver Door Ajar Malfunction
Passenger Door Ajar Malfunction
If not a scan tool would be the best way.
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Driver Door Ajar Sw parameter while opening and closing the driver door. The parameter should change between Door Closed and Door Ajar
? If the parameter does not change, refer to Driver Door Ajar Malfunction.
With the passenger doors closed, observe the scan tool Door Ajar Switch parameter while opening and closing each door. The parameter should change between Door Closed and Door Ajar.
? If the parameter does not change, refer to Passenger Door Ajar Malfunction
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver door latch.
Test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 8 and ground.
? If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Driver Door Ajar Sw parameter is Door Closed.
? If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 6 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 6 and the ground circuit terminal 8. Verify the scan tool Driver Door Ajar Sw parameter is Door Ajar.
? If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
If all circuits test normal, test or replace the driver door latch
In side you dash is a electronically controlled actuator call a mode actuator , it controls which vents the air comes out of ! They go bad, plastic gears in side of it wear out, a lot of times you'll hear a clicking sound in the dash. They are not to tough to fix ,you need to take Instrument Panel Insulator Panel off - Left Side under dash . Some times stuff drops down in an binds up the door inside .Have a little child , they like putting stuff in the vents ,pencil's an the like. Mode Door Actuator Dorman 604 121 Controls Airflow Direction
This is caused by one of the many door sensor switches being defective. You can tear all the door apart and replace all the switches or have the dealer scan the body control module and quickly pinpoint the bad switch.,
Hello: You have a switch in one of the door latch assemblies that is not working, Use of a up scale scan tool can identify which door. the only other way is to remove each door panel and trouble shoot each latch assembly.
if the window isn't automatically rolling up when u shut the door u can reset the memory by turning till ur dash lights are on only don't start the car , then hit the window up button for few seconds then down button few seconds after the window is down then roll the window up should be fine
Usually they are under the dash or on the side of the dash by the drivers door. There should be a diagram that shows which fuse works the tail lights. Use the puller provided, pull the fuse out and check to make sure that the interior wire is broken. If it is replace the fuse. If it is not have a mechanic look at it for a short
Update: Just got back from the dealer, official diagnosis: Broken door latch. Luckily where my g6 isn't quite a year old it's still covered under warranty but this issue appears to be a widespread problem, enough so to justify a recall. It just goes to show you why the big 3 automakers are begging for bailout money right now, shabby quality over the years combined with increased prices. Greed is a terrible thing, customers are getting fed up and it's comming back to haunt them....
