Will a 2006 ford taurus transmission fit my 2006 ford five hundred?

According to Holander interchange, the Mercury Montego is the only interchangeable model, does not matter if it is a 6-speed auto or a CVT auto, the taurus does not show to interchange.

I have a 2006 Ford Five Hundred and the transmission is slipping. I need to be able to check the transmission fluid to see if it is low. How to I check the transmission fluid?

You may not be able to really. Some of these have dipsticks and some do not. CVT transmissions do not but some 6 speed transmissions do. If you do have one it should be near the air filter box. IF you have one....put the vehicle in park and start it up. Leave it running at an idle for several minutes until its good and hot. While it is running and hot, pull the stick and check the level. (be very careful) Fluid should be red in color and at the point on the stick where is says warm. If it is brown, you have trouble, if it is low, you have trouble. ie leak. Either way you look at it. ANY time a tranny slips it DOES cause further damage. I recommend a tranny shop

Can I change the filter and fluid in my 2006 ford 500 myself and what atf fluid should i use? Thanks

You have a CVT transmission. It is a specific CVT fluid that is green. You really shouldn't so it yourself, because the filt plug is under the battery and it is extremely small, too small for a standard funnel.

Would like to service my 2006 ford Five Hundred transmission. I am told that it takes a very special and expensive fluid. Is the job strait forward other than that?

I own a "06" 500 with 150,000 miles on it. My Ford dealer recommended transmission service at around 90,000 miles. I don't recall the exact cost but it didn't seem unreasonable, around $140.00. No special pump out or filtration, just drain and refill.
