My gear shift broke off column estimate how much to fix

hey look under neath where ur driver footpedals are. chances are that the rubber grommet on the end of ur cable came off or broke.. look up into the column area an look for the black cable goin to a pivot point on shifter arm. reconnect. but will prob need new cable cause if end is no good will fall of again. move shifter back an forth to help u locate area of cable

Sounds like a shift cable or rod broke. This is dangerous as you probably figured out. Some emergency brakes do not work well for Reverse either. There is so little fabric on the Emergency brake that you are lucky it still works for you.

There is a safety lockout on the gearshift which requires a foot on the brake pedal. Otherwise you could just move the gearshift back and forth and see that the shifter is no longer connected to the transmission.

Look at some autoparts sites for the shift cable assembly. Once you see what is a good assembly you should be able to see where yours is broke. Youtube may have a video to show how to repair your car.

What year is the truck, and did you connect the small string that pulls the indicator ?

I would be looking at cost of parts plus 1our labour at local rate.

your problem with the gear selector is in the item 25 these are 2 plastic bushings that wear out and cause the gear selector feels loose, you should also check the item 27 this item has one or two screws loose and cause the gear selector feels loose

easer to change whole column

get a new lever punch out the roll pin that holds it in.replace lever and reinstall roll pin

ajust the park brake and take it to a shop for the vcs light . its a wheel sensor has nothing to do with the sterring coulm

check under the dash where shift linkage connects to shift cable will be two #30 torx bolts which have probably worked loose you do not have to remove wheel easy fix
