I have a 95 Bonneville, the car has been running OK, I parked it and when I went back a few hours later but it would not start. The car powers up and when I turn the key it seems to pull extra power, but the engine does not crank. I have insured the connections to the starter are good and with the key on I have jumped the starter, by jumping the starter the engine turns and seems to fire but immediatly dies.
I am wondering what the most likely cause is and where to find any relay that may be associated.
The only problem I had nioticed recently was with the automatic headlights, the lights are always fully on when I have the automatic lights engaged, rather than daytime running lights durring the day.
Thanks for any help.
Hello, you seem to have a problem with your anti-theft system the ignition lock cylinder has two wires that are very small and are common at breaking because every time the ignition switch turns the are being rocked back and forth, or either there is a malfunction in your key, but odds are you will be replacing the cylinder. You will also have to have a new key made. This fix is kind of exspensive so I would advise you to let the dealer do it. Besides when putting the switch in it could be possible to damage the new one so let them have that headache. Thank You
If the car cranks while starting...the starter is probably good. The problem is either the car isn't getting fuel or spark.

The car wont crank from turning the key, only if I jump the starter.
