The engine starts but wont stay running unless you continually rev it. The injectors spray fine and the fuel filter was recently replaced. It used to run but sat for about three months and now wont work. It sounds awesome when running but it just wont stay on. We have replaced the Idle Air Control valve and have used octane boosters just in case the gas is bad. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, or vaccume leak,
may also need complete tuneup,or as a last shot the timing gear could be a tooth off
1988 gmc runs for a little but dies. Check your c.t.s that checks the temp. of your coolent and when it fails it tells computor engin is hot, t.p.s takes over closes butterfly and chocks the air to keep engine from runnin to lean. If engine is not hot it will flood and stop runnin then some time will go by befor truck tries to start. May not be probablem but its a thought. c.t.s is located on manifold by top radiator hose neck. My truck was fine than sat had simmilor problem when i went to use again thats what i changed and seems to be back to normal. Hope this helps.
There is also the problem with the distibutor when u take off the distibutor cap and there is an ignition module its not that but on the distibutor itself up under the rotory button is like a ring on it that will also go bad and not let it get the right spark to idle or either u bumped the distributor off timing
Disconnect egr valve and see if it runs

i have the same problem but i have the filter off i just did a tune up there is fuel spraying from the injectors and it will run if i continue to spray ether in it. a couple people that i have asked say i have bad fuel im starting to agree with them does anyone have any other ideas
If it won't idle at all, then you might have a significant vacuum leak. Check around for the usual sources and don't forget the power brake booster diaphragm.
