There is more then likely major damage to the computer , alternator , and other electronic components, the safest way is always disconnect the battery cables and charge the battery, you may be lucky check for blown fuses and melted wiring .

Connecting jumper cables the wrong wat around most likely has damaged electronic components such as a radio and computer.
Check the fuse box and replace any blown fuses.
If you still have problems then get an auto electrician to fix your car.

SOURCE: My 2002 Mazda Protege was

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly
You have a fuse link/ Fuseable link) in the wiring from the battery to the fuse box that has probably failed. Go to any auto parts supply Napa, Auto Zone ect that has computerized parts break downs of your vehicle and ask them to show you where the fuse link is located. It will be inside the black plastic conduit material of the chassis electrical harness. Some Vehicles have more than one Fuseable Link. Make sure to ask when you check at the auto parts source if there is more than one and ask for the location of that one also. Most auto parts stores will show you the computer monitor with the location diagram of the Fuseable link.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

SOURCE: Battery not charging in Mazda Millenia year 2000

Sounds like a similar problem I had. I had a bad battery. Jumping the car and charger did not help. All instruments work as I am guessing the battery had enough juice to light those but not enough to start car. Either bad battery or alternator. I changed out the battery and everything was fine. If you have an aftermarket stereo or amp, make sure they are setup right. The amp may be drawing power even if radio and car is off which may attribute to low start power (including above suggestions).

SOURCE: 2001 mazda protege dx 5 spd dies, brakes are seized up?

It seems that one of the pulleys is bent, or you are using the wrong timing belt. I would suggest changing them. That would probably explain why the timing belt keeps breaking. The braking problem can be related, or you simply have a leak somewhere in the system and should try bleeding the brakes after thorough inspection.

Batery cables hooked up backwards now no radio sid/display

Was it jumper cables or only car battery?

Either way check all the fuses - in all 3 fuse boxes, and radio may have a line fuse as well if aftermarket.

I would take battery out and allow things to settle first, though.

Saturn jumper cables hooked up backwards

Try charging the battery more. Even though your lights may come one, starting a vehicle requires massive amounts of amperage from the batter. It's possible that your jumper cables aren't a thick enough guage to supply enough power as well. Sometimes the vehicle you're jumping from might not have enough power to support your vehicle's starting power requirements.
