I have a 2004 Chevy Aveo with 73,000 miles, timing belt replaced 30,000 miles ago that is stalling while I'm driving. I have to coast off the side of the road, which is extremely dangerous. Thankfully, I wasn't on the freeway! It's done this 3 separate times. It would start again after about 5-10 minutes. The last time, it wouldn't start at all and I had it towed to a shop where they are trying to figure out what is wrong. I have no idea what the codes are, if there are any.
Could be a fuel pump failure
You don't always get a code for every
vehicle problem
Takes some old school thinking & testing
to find these issues
Maybe, though I can start the car up again. Seems like it may be something else. Yes, you are right about codes.
A fuel pump can seize mechanically or stop electrically & that can go on for 6 months then your stuck on the side of the road the final time
Okay, could very well be. Thank you Peter. :) Any other suggestions by others would also be extremely helpful.
Yes they may be helpful & I could spend the evening writing you a book of other possible causes but the car needs the car doctor for now
The car is in the shop and they are trying to figure out what is going on. I'm doing some homework on my own to see what possibilities there could be. I don't expect anyone to spend their evening writing a book. Thanks again.
Welcome
It's a vacuum line on the intake
It's a vacuum line, your car shut off with no reason, some has code, mostly no code pulled. My little 05 Aveo runs good.
This just happened to my 19 year old daughter while she was on I-70. She is going back to school 3 states away, and we really need this car to be safe for her to drive. I'm getting ready to take it in, and we don't have a lot of time or money to try various things. Do we have a definitive answer on what the issue is? (I hate being the wimpy female here, but my husband died last year, and this is my first time dealing with a car issue, and I'm a tad nervous.

there is a Technical service bulletin for this problem, the number of the TSB is 01575, TSB Date:January 1, 2004
It has to do with engine valve seating problems.

Pull out your spark plugs. Change them if dirty. There might be a problem with the fuel trim, thats causing spark plug to foul up prematurely. A stucked open EGR valve can also cause a multiple mispfire code(P0300) but then it would be accompanied by an EGR code(P402) which means excessive flow detected. Anyways if was indeed a fouled up spark plug change them as well as the air filter.

I don't want to seem like a smart ****, but the blown fuses were telling you that something with the component that it was protecting is going bad. So changing the fuse the first time was a go idea, the second time was not. It told you, that something was failing and you refused to pay attention.
But at least you know which fuse blew, so now all you have to do is find out what it was protecting and replace it or what feeds it.
