2000 Nissan Frontier 3.3L VG33E engine. Drove it to the store and when i came out it would not start. I determined the timing belt stripped at the crank gear. I replaced the belt. I am pretty certain that the timing is right. All line on the new belt match maks on the gears and I have 40 teeth between the cam gear mark and 43 between the LH cam gear mark and the crank gear. ??

Nissan markets its D22 and D40 pickup trucks in North America as the Frontier. A six-cylinder 3.3-liter engine with a double overhead camshaft is standard for the D22 models. The timing belt for this engine keeps the camshafts synchronized with the camshaft, enabling the engine to run smoothly. The timing belt has a limited lifetime, and typically requires replacement after 60,000 miles.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Simply buy a new belt from Nissan. Line up the marks on the belt with the marks on the cam gears and crank gear and it will start.

If your belt came with marks, then they should match the marks that are on the sprockets and block, if not, you must have the cam marks align with those on the engine. If you're in doubt about the exact spot, lay a tooth pick across the sprockets so that you can check alignment to the block.

Should be a T50 or T55. Should have a cover over the bolt. Remove the cover, and remove the bolt.

2000 Nissan frontier wont start...

If it's the timing belt you may have it a tooth or two out. Take the cover off and turn the engine till the timing marks are on and see if they are all on their marks. Sounds like you have it out of timing, If what you changed it the serpentine belt .... that's a different story. You may just have something unplugged you never put back.

I have a 2000 frontier with a v6 , i took it in to have the timing belt changed and when i went to pick it up it had no power, so they told me the guy had the timing a few teeth off on the right side so...

Wow, that's strange that they released the vehicle knowing the timing was off a "few teeth", that is quite a few degrees off...Was it off enough to cause a valve to slap the piston is the question...
This is an "interference" type of engine...so yes, bad things happen when the belt breaks.
If you drove it to the shop for scheduled belt maintenance, and the truck had no lack of power then...you definitely have reason to doubt the quality of work you received....I hope this helps, keep us posted on the final outcome of your truck.

2002 Nissan Frontier timing belt

Timing belts are found on the 3.3L engines, timing chains are on the 2.4L engines. The 2002 3.3L Timing belt is changed at 105K during the major service. This service can run over one thousand dollars. It is recommended to replace the belt, tensioner and idlers, cam and crank seals, water pump, and both belts when changing the timing belt. That way, you only open up the front of the engine every 105K. Why change the timing belt and have a water pump start leaking only 20K later and ruin the belt with antifreeze? Other items during the 105K are a major tune up with all the fluids changed and a lube. This does get expensive. You can break it up into several blocks of time and spread the related service items out over a few months to take some of the sting off.
