Hi Joe, Two things I would check that are very common, the igniter inside the distributor, and the main relay up under the dash on the drivers side. The main relay is a small brown box about the size of a half stick of butter, I believe it has an 8 pin connector.
Here is a quick check on the main relay. when you turn the ignition on, usually you will hear a hum for 4 sec and then click off, if you don't hear the hum and click, 99.9% sure it's the main relay, if you hear it, it's probably the igniter. Let me know if that helps, thanks.

SOURCE: Replacing head gasket on 1995 honda civic, require torque specs and secquence

wow. a lot of bad information on this site. Refer to a manual for the proper torque sequence. The civic I believe is a two step torque procedure. First 22 ft lbs, than 53 ft lbs.

SOURCE: 1995 Honda Civic 5 speed manual will not shift

It could be that your syncro for the reverse gear is gone. Which would have to be brought to a tranny shop not a do it your self type of job.

Go to your local library and ask the Librarian to get you on-line to the Automotive Repair Reference Center, and then to the EBSCO database...you will find all of your wiring diagrams there.

SOURCE: i think i need to replace the ignition coil in my

This is for PGM-IG ignition coil type, there is also electronic ignition igniter on the distributor type.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the distributor cap retaining screws and remove the distributor cap and seal. Slide off the leak cover.
  3. Remove the two screws that retain the BLK/YEL and WHT/BLU wires from the terminals in the distributor.
  4. Remove the screws that retain the coil and remove the coil from the distributor body. To install:
  5. Install the coil in position and tighten the screws securely.
  6. Reconnect the two leads and install the leak cover.
  7. Install the distributor cap and seal.

1995 honda civic 97cid sat for two months turns over good has fuel to the plugs seems to be no spark will not even backfire

I would check the distributor first....one function of the Civic's distributor is to engage the coil (via the firing switch)....no spark. no fire. I hope this helps.
