Transmission or manual clutch slip and/or poor driving habits need to be looked at if all else is good.

SOURCE: 1997 ford explorer check engine lite is on.Code

you probably have blocked passages in the intake manifold. remove the egr and check the port for a clog. you can scrape most of the carbon out with a pick or screw driver and then use some spray carbon cleaner in there. also check the metal exhaust line to the egr

SOURCE: High oil Consumption, BMW M5

Look for Castrol TWS 10W60 Motor Oil. This car should not burn so much oil, you need to use a different kind. It is recommended by BMW as well. I also heard the VANOS isnt an issue anymore, can be fixed with a different MAFF. Good luck!

SOURCE: SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON FAILED EMISSIONS

Yes, take it back. The might of replaced the Egr valve to turn off the light. Don't let them charge you for retesting it, that's why you took it in in the first place.

SOURCE: egr valve cleaning

Usually the EGR valve problems show the fault code P0400 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction

What does that mean?
The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve is vacuum controlled valve that regulates the amount of exhaust gases that re-enter the cylinders. The powertrain control module (PCM) determines how much based on engine load, temp, and other conditions. If the PCM detects that the amount of exhaust gases entering the cylinder were insufficient or non-existent, this code is set.

Symptoms
No symptoms will likely be noticed by the driver other than the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp). However, non visible symptoms will be increased combustion temperature and increased Nox emissions.

Causes
A code P0400 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
* Plugged EGR passage which restricts the flow of exhaust gasses
* Faulty EGR solenoid
* Faulty EGR solenoid wiring/harness
* Vacuum lines damaged/disconnected to the EGR valve solenoid or to the EGR valve
* Faulty EGR valve

Possible Solutions
Since EGR valve designs are different, no one test will suffice:
* Using a scan tool, operate the EGR valve with the engine running. If the engine stumbles, the problem was likely intermittent wiring problem or intermittent blockage problem
* If engine doesn't stumble, operate the EGR valve manually, if possible. If engine doesn't stumble and die, the ports are likely plugged. Removal of valve and cleaning of all ports will be required
* Checking of solenoid can only usually be done with a scan tool, because most solenoids operate with a duty cycle of voltage, rather than constant voltage
* Check all vacuum lines, hoses, etc for any damage
* Visually inspect the solenoid harness and the solenoid for damage
* Replace EGR valve

I have a 2005 honda accord and the fuel consumption is too high what is the cause and the solution to handle it.

The first thing is to check for fuel leaks and for restricted intake or exhaust and ensure the routine maintenance is up to date.

It is important to know what the current fuel consumption is in miles per gallon or km per litre. The modern trend of paying set amounts of money gives a wholly false impression of actual fuel consumption.

When checked accurately over a period and averaged to take account of different types of driving conditions, freezing temperatures and so forth, mostly the result is found to be not as bad as first imagined.

If all checks are found to be ok and the accurately checked consumption is still too high further checks will be needed.

A few possible faults are incorrect fuel pressures, bad injectors, incorrect valve timing, "tired" oxygen sensors, bad thermostat, "tired" temperature sensors...

Wheel alignment, tyre pressures and binding brakes can also be factors...

My Hyundai 1999 model CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON AND THE FUEL CONSUMPTION IS HIGH.

Do you have black smoke or what looks like soot coming out of the tail pipe. The check engine light monitors fuel pressure through the computer and pressure regulator. It will come on if the pump pressure is too high or too low. If the pressure regulator is faulty it could cause excessive fuel consumption,

High mileage car. Low quality Kenyan fuel. Low on

High on mileage means that the engine has done a lot of work, possible that the compression is down, need to check if this is below level, if there is oil used in excess then the engine needs an overhauling subject to the cost estimated.

Cant compromise on bad fuel as this will bring down the power of the engine.
High fule consumption means poor setting so fuel and ignition , check fuel settings- pump calibration and timing.

What causes very high fuel consumption

Well to name a few. Dirty air filter, Ignition timing off, emissions system
malfunction, faulty fuel injection system, low tire pressure. Dealers are
expensive but Honda is your best shot if that's your problem.

High fuel consumption. only 200 miles per tank

it has gotta be the o2 sensor, map sensor, or the mass air flow meter.............. these are the main inputs to the computer that controls the fuel control....let me know how that works out please

My fuel consumption is very high

a couple of simple checks first. check tyre preasures, low preasures will make the car harder to roll along the road. also, are the brakes binding?

failing this, it could be a number of different problems.

What are the possible reasons for high fuel consumption?

a low cylinder will cause a reduction in fuel economy. also in the winter months many states oxygenate thier fuel, it helps with emmisions but reduces economy. higher octane fuel usually has less feul economy, drop to the mid grade
