Question about 1999 Honda Accord

1999 Honda Accord No Dash Lights

Car Gurus!! I seek your aid!!! The dash lights and the center console lights of my 1999 Accord have gone out after I replaced the stock stereo with a Sony deck (CDXGT560UP). I bought it from Best Buy and I also bought the proper harness. I followed all the instructions and installed the radio. Right now the orange wire and the orange/white stripe are loose and are not attached to each other. I have checked the fuse related to the dash/interior lights (fuse #9 - according to the manual) but the lights and the chime associated with the headlights being left on are no longer working. Any thoughts? Thank you.

U f---ed up. How come you have those two wires not attached to anything? Never like that in first place, was it?

Go over all you did or better still have some one with smarts go over your work and , hopefully, they will find what you did wrong.

SOURCE: 1999 honda accord lx sedan removed stock dash no

John is absolutely correct on the dimmer switch, and never hooking up the dimmer wire on an aftermarket stereo. Ok...from personal experience on my own Accord, I'm sorry to tell you that you most likely blew the multiplex computer on the Driver's side of the dash. This is a chronic problem with accords of this era. That's the bad news. The good news is that these are readily available on E-Bay for a reasonable price. The computer is attached directly to the drivers side fuse box. I bought mine with the fusebox attached. It is time consuming to replace, but something you could do if you are a contortionist and handy with tools. It took me about 90 min, not counting breaks to keep from cramping. There are a couple of good videos on you tube that demonstrate the procedure well. Finally, the really good news...if you are content to live with full-on dash lights, you can bypass the dimmer switch (which is part of the gauge cluster) to turn on the dash lights when the lights are turned on. Again, go to you tube for a great video on how to do this...and no need to mess with the multiplex. Search on YT: 1998-02 honda Accord blown dash lights. Cheap Fix. this should help.

Dash lights and tail lights do not work in my 99 honda accord

My dash light doesn't work either, I lose lights in dash at night when I have the headlights on. As for your car, thats kinda weird your fronts work but not the back. Have you already checked the fuse boxes? they are on the driver and passenger sides almost under the dash in front of the doors. If all your fuse are good and in the right spots, then I would check the bulbs out back to make sure they are not rusted inside or cut or something like that.

1999 honda accord lx sedan removed stock dash no dash lights after aftermarket stereo wired in random red wire leading from stock stero to car would love to be able to have dash lights at night everything...

Most cars have the dash light wire in the wires going to the radio. Did you use a store bought adapter the plugs into the honda wire harness to connect the radio? Idf not you may have the dash light wire grounded with the radio and it's blown the dash light fuse. first unplug the radio. then go though the fuse and find the blown one under the dash fuse panel. Replace the fuse.( if their not uswed up the fuse panel has extra fuses and thier marked as spares). try the dash lights, if their workingyou need to find the wire at the radio and make sure it"s not being connected to ground. You might need to use a test light to look for power and when you find it turn the lights on and off the be shure that you have the right wire. If it's still not working you may need to investagate the dash light dimmer swich that turns the brightness up and down to the dash lights. The overload as the radio was connected possibly wrong can blow this switch instead of blowing the fuse. The swich pries out of the dash and you can test it withthe test light. One wire is ground ones the power from the dash panel fuse coming from the headlight switch and the other is the lights thems selves. This switch it'self lights in the dark, so it has a ground for it's bulb.

My center console lights do not work, but the radio and everything else does. 2003 honda model. I just can not see the controls.

FROM ANOTHER POST:

the fuse is the #2 fuse in the underhood fuse box. that fusebox is on the passenger side of the engine compartment and it has a black cover on it that is approximately 6" x 3"

the fuse box lid should have a list under the cover of what fuses are what. the #2 fuse is a 15 amp fuse.

if the console lights work then the problem isn't the fuse.

check the rheostat that is used to dim the dash lights. that is the same button you use to reset the trip odometer at the base of the speedometer. that knob actually turns to brighten or dim the dash lights. it may have gotten turned inadvertantly

if the console lights work and turning the rheostat makes no difference then the rheostat switch in the dash is probably bad

hope that helps
